Also, Kopa appeared in a set of Lion King storybooks called "The Lion King: Six New Adventures" (google it and you'll find them easily). Mheetu was a character originally supposed to appear in the Lion King movie, but was cut early on in production. He was supposed to be Nala's little tagalong brother but was not actually necessary to the story so he never made it beyond the concept art stage. Very few official pictures exist of Mheetu.

I made Mheetu a white lion namely because of the concept sketches that exist of him for TLK. They show Mheetu as white or very pale yellow. His being a white lion is my personal interpretation of that, which has since caught on among other fanartists in the community. No one knows what Disney's final movie design for Mheetu would have looked like. However, Disney just decided not to use him for the movie. So all the evidence we have of Mheetu comes from concept art sketches and early plot development.

Yes in my story Mheetu is Scar's son, and since he is Scar's oldest child he would be future king (thus Zira kills him). Zira liking Kovu more than Nuka is actually one of my pet theories: I think Scar and Zira had the same father, only they didn't find that out until after Nuka was born. Thus Nuka is rather messed up, and also shunned and never considered as heir. Kovu, Zira's healthy male cub with another lion, is chosen instead. But that's all just personal speculation. :)

Last night I had a really weird and creepy (slightly scary as well) dream about how Mheetu came to be. (Some bits you might not understand if you haven't seen "Shadowland: A Scarred Pride" by Sullabib, it's claimed now though. *Edit* : Here's it is: kzbin.info/aero/PLAbpe4q3DG7A_W9Ea79jQp3ILaJ5En7Fg) It went like this (If you're under 16, don't read): It was late at night. Sarafina (Nala's mom) came into the cave inside Pride Rock where Scar was and he said "Ahhh, Sarafina. What a pleasant surprise. To what do I owe the honour of this little visit?" "Scar, I need to have a word with you. It's important." Sarafina said. "I also have something to say, but you can go first my dear." Scar said. "Thank you. Scar, the herds are decreasing and Zira's lot are still overhunting. The Pridelands can't be treated like this forever. Will you please tell Zira to be more careful with her hunting?" Sarafina asked. "Hmmmm, I might consider it. But of course, you can't just get something for nothing. You know the old saying: You scratch my back I'll scratch yours?" Scar said. "What do you want?" Sarafina asked. "Your daughter has certainly grown into a fine young lioness." Scar said. "Where are you going with this, Scar?" Sarafina demanded. "Surely it would be unfair to deny her a role by the side of the king?" Scar implied. "Are you asking for my daughter's paw in marriage?!" Sarafina asked. "Nala is strong and beautiful. She'd make a perfect queen. I just need your word, and she'll be mine." Scar said. "Nala was and never will be yours! If you really want a queen, why not Zira? She loves you Scar. Setting her up with Bluu just so you'll have a healthy heir to the throne hasn't stopped that. My daughter will never be your queen. Over my dead body!" Sarafina yelled. "That can be arranged!" Scar growled, pouncing onto Sarafina, pinning her down. She breathed heavily in panic. "Get off me!" she demanded. Scar smirked. "No. You see, if Zira fails me, I'll still need an heir!" he said. Sarafina gasped and Scar cackled. It cuts to black. The scene fades back. Sarafina was panting with Scar looking at her in (fake) disappointment. "Tsk tsk tsk. Wouldn't it have just been easier to listen to me? Nala would be so disappointed if she found out about this." he said, putting his arm (or leg I guess, he is a lion) around her. "Let's just make this our little secret." Scar said, licking her cheek and walking away. Sarafina limped out of the cave. She rested herself on a rock, crying herself to sleep. Like, wtf? Was that supposed to be a nightmare or something? I woke up so confused.

It's like Mheetu is Kopa's 'Guardian Angel' so to speak, and somehow guides him back home. It gives actually meaning to the song's lyrics- He lives in you, He watches over.

He's actually Nala's brother (therefore Kopa's uncle). Mheetu was supposed to be Nala's little brother in an early draft of the script for The Lion King, but he was cut from production. That's pretty much all that's known about him, aside from a few concept sketches. Fans have many different versions of the rest of his story, his design, etc. This video is one possibility. :)

Thanks! And you're exactly right: Zira's right ear has a circular nick in it in Simba's Pride (a design element often forgotten by fanartists). The theory I put forth in this video is that Timon bit her ear and that's why that chunk is missing. ;)

@thomasandmm In this video Mheetu is Nala's half-brother. The lioness Sarafina is the mother of both of them, but Mheetu's father is Scar and Nala's father is a different lion. That is the fan theory this video works on, though there are plenty of other theories out there.

I love Mheetu. I think cub Nuka looks sooo sweet sitting proudly beside his younger brother and sister. Personally, I like to think that Zira chased Mheetu away, because she wanted Nuka to become king. He then returned later to pride rock to the amazement of Nala and Simba. Obviously a lot more happens, but I'm just too lazy to write it. Perhaps I'll write a fan made story one day as I'm hopeless at drawing! :P

@IkkiTousen101 Most of the backstories you see are made up completely by fans (including this video!) but the characters themselves were created by Disney originally. Mheetu has no official story - he appeared in concept stage of "The Lion King" as Nala's little brother but was cut out of the storyline early on. Kopa does have some backstory as he appeared in a set of young reader books by Disney called "The Lion King: Six New Adventures" or TLK6NA. I have scans of those up on Photobucket.

Mheetu was cut from the movie; he did not appear in any books but only in concept art. There are many "subcanon" characters that appeared in Lion King picture books and comics, and I have compiled some scans on my photobucket account (user: koraden) in the TLK6NA, TLK Comics, and TLK Picture Books folders, click on the links to the left. my 7 year old sis (who has never liked lion king) is in love with this video. shes trying to draw pictures of ur version of mheetu! she loves this so much and she'll watch it over and over again for hours. she asks me questions about it and eventho she doesn't understand it completely, she's fasenated by it. she's going around the house yelling "mheetu" and pretending she's mheetu "having a bad day"(i seriously have no idea so dont ask). thanx 4 bringing so much joy to my lil sis & me :)

My version of Mheetu is a white lion. Google it on Google Images--a white lion is a lion with a rare recessive gene that can appear if both of the parents carry it (even if they have normal coloring). It's similar to "black leopards". I decided to have Mheetu as a white lion because Disney concept art depicts him as very light-colored, and one pic in particular looks a lot like this Mheetu. it's in my photobucket account (search for koraden under "people") in Characters--Cut Characters.

@firexx78 All stories about Mheetu are fan-created, so the story that Scar killed Mheetu is just a fan-fiction-esque theory (much like this entire video). Since he does not exist in the Disney canon story, there is no official cause of death for Mheetu.

It explains why Kiara looks different from the cub at the end of TLK, why Zira and her followers were exiled, why Kopa doesn't appear in Simba's Pride, and why Simba becomes a severely overprotective parent. However, it is important to remember that this is a fan theory and not canon or Disney-endorsed. It is not the "true story" but a fan-made plot. Others have differing theories that may be very different. ;)

@justintimers Technically Mheetu does not have a life story, and Kopa has been retconned out of existence by Disney. So neither character is even alive in the first place! :P The only place these characters live is in fan theory, so fans can feel free to kill them off if they want to. In my fanart and stories, Kopa usually dies and Mheetu lives (opposite of this vid). Other fans have both die, or both live. Their fates depend on which fan is tellling the story at the time. :)

@Captain5337 actually the story goes that mheetu was born after simba ran away and his life was in constant threat because he wasnt scars, nalaa, her mom elanna(sp) and the other lionesses did everything to please scar to protect him in the book it has underlying suggestions that nalaa's mom was sleeping with scar 4 her sons protection and nalaa's as well.

Nice fan theory. I have not heard that one before. It must be pretty new, since as far as I could research there were no other fan stories about Mheetu saving Kopa when I made this video. Interesting, though. Of course, my personal fan theory (usually illustrated in my fanart) is that Mheetu runs away as an adolescent and Zira does kill Kopa. I think Kopa's story is so much better when he dies as a young cub. But I don't mind playing with alternatives. :)

Since Simba's Pride came out, however, Disney doesn't acknowledge the existence of Kopa. The official word is that Kiara is the only cub of Simba and Nala. There are a few pictures of concept art that feature possible versions of Mheetu. However, that is all the official information available on him. Fans have multitudes of theories and artwork about Mheetu; google "TLKFAA" and you'll find the official fanart site where he is most often drawn.

Mheetu was a concept character developed as "the brother of Nala". That is all we know. Fan theories have him as her full brother, half brother, twin brother, adopted brother, etc. For this particular video my fan THEORY is Mheetu is Nala's half brother, by the same mother (Sarafina). Scar is Mheetu's father, but Scar is not Nala's father in this scenario. Some fans like to think he is, though many fans don't. I personally am on the "not" side, but that's just my opinion.
