There are many mysteries surrounding the Lost Media of Animal Crossing games. Reaching from Animal Crossing media lost to time, to possibly fake rumors from years ago, to partially found lost media.

yo! i just came back to check on this and see if others agreed and they have, including you!! i would take tips from youtubers like iNabber who tiptoe very cleverly around sensitive subjects. a lot of the time, things don't have to be laid out obviously - look at your demographics and decide whether or not they can infer certain things. implication and abbreviations are the way to go. I.e., SA for sexual assault, CP for...I don't even wanna say that one lol, OBL or Hide and Seek Champion (lol) for Osama Bin Laden. get creative with it but remain respectful in delicate situations because there's also a line crossed by tiktokers who use codewords that make no sense to anyone. your channel is really awesome and turning out to be a treasure of AC knowledge. :)

Holy cow, I wasn't sure anyone would bring up the lost 2007 calendar I've sought after for years. Funny that you mentioned my Reddit post as well. Hoping one day a full archive of the pictures can be preserved one day.
@Chubby_Bub Жыл бұрын
Funny as it is to think about, I don't think it's as likely as it seems that Osama Bin Laden had an Animal Crossing town. That hard drive also had a bunch of other pirated media for him and the other people living in his complex. Most likely someone there downloaded a set of DS ROMs which included Wild World, and maybe opened it, but never made a save- and even if they did, it's unlikely it was Bin Laden himself. Also yeah, "Animal Crossing 2" _was_ just the announcement of a tentative name for _Doubutsu no Mori e+_ in a Famitsu article about Nintendo games being worked on, which got misunderstood and lost in translation. There was probably never any intention to release it in the west, and the alleged screenshots come from the N64 version.
@DOSGamer2001 Жыл бұрын
The screenshots actually seem to come from Doubutsu no Mori+, because the N64 version's largest house only has one floor, and one of the screenshots has a house with two floors.
@Chubby_Bub Жыл бұрын
@@DOSGamer2001 Nice catch. I didn’t notice that.
@VonVikoGoat Жыл бұрын
yeah as someone who pirates DS games there is a bunch of ROM packs on the internet. You download it and you get a zip file with a bunch of popular games and is perfect for those who want to do emulation of a system they never used. I guess someone wanted to play DS games because they saw some cool game so they liked it and proceeded to download a ROM pack

First off: amazing vid Second off: I owe the animal crossing movie for my entire life path. I watched it online as a kid and wanted to read the signs in Japanese, so I looked up language websites. Many years later I’d go to uni for Japanese because of that first spark. If the movie didn’t exist it’s possible my entire life would have followed a different timeline. It’s wild…a wild world

I don't think it's that much of a stretch of imagination that the Animal Crossing twitter would have access to a debug build that let's them take 4K pictures or disable building restrictions
@Irkaylub Жыл бұрын
yeah, its far more of a stretch to presume that they gave the social media managers a special build for a console that doesn't exist. The treehouse team get dev builds for localization and for social media so obviously they'd have tool to get stuff from the game that is not in the consumer build.

Apparently the name "Osama Bin Laden" had to be censored in the video because of demonetization. It's like hearing the name "Timothy Mcveigh" censored in the video as well. To be honest, many terrorists of our time, much like us, have played video games at some point in their lives as a way to cool down or just play for fun and never come back to it. Heck, Timothy Mcveigh, the person I mentioned, use to play video games on the Atari 2600 and his DOS computer before getting into military and politics in his later life, including hunting rifles, eventually bombing a federal building in 1995. Nazi Americans have also made video games in the 1990s to recruit new members into their society. Although after 9/11/2001 occurred, all of their camps were basically demolished, but the Nazi American websites still exist to this very day, they're just not shown in the search engines very often. As for animal crossing, well, it was a game to give everyone their own fantisized world of how they would have loved to live in, despite not being able to escape earth and go into the computer world of their own for eternity. So I'm never surprised to see people disturbed by content played by terrorists that took decades to even capture or kill. Anyway, besides that point, this was an interesting dive into the animal crossing content that I've heard of for many years, as well as the other ones I had no idea about until this video mentioned it.

I do think Animal Crossing was originally meant for the N64DD, given that its overall file size is so small that you can eject the disc from your GameCube and continue playing without it until you shut off the console, but it's larger than the 64mb limit of N64 cartridges. Which makes sense when you consider earlier releases of "Animal Forest" were on the N64, and on cartridges.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo of America for a short time did attempt an English localisation of Animal Crossing e+ or it was gong to be an even further enhanced version of the game for international audiences; but it no doubt would have been too late for that to ever really work out. So the thing about - you know who - having ACWW save files on his PC. I watched another video about the CIA page containing the contents of said hard drive, and they had mentioned he lived at that compound with his extended family so it was probably his kids or nieces/nephews playing animal crossing on there if I had to guess. Which is weird to think about. Like here are these kids living with the ex leader of such an egregious group, sharing, in common, with us a propensity for this much beloved series.

Animal crossing new Horizons broke my heart. The build they showed at E3 was likely unfinished and just an alpha or beta build to show at the event. But the game that released to the public seemed to have LESS content that the E3 build with the promise to add more Content via live updates. Basic gameplay mechanics and events were added in as an update but they should have been there from the start with new, never before seen, features being added via updates instead. I'd love to see what is actually in the E3 build, and find out what exactly happened. Honestly the E3 build looked like a lot more fun than the day 1 game that we got.

I personally do not think a Animal Crossing 2 did ever exist but if it did or someone heard about it, it was probably a port of it for Western audiences and was quickly scrapped as it made no sense as it would be a literal port of the original PAL and American game with an e+ reader. plus wouldn't be a good move as likely even by this point Wild World was in very early development or they were planning a sequel using the new DS hardware as at the time of the e+ release the DS was only released a year after the games update, plus IGN back then wasn't the best source of unreleased or cancelled games most of the time even though most of the games turned out to be true, alot of "cancelled" or in development games from the forums and articles were just rumours with no solid information. Either way keep up the great content dude!

[EDIT: as I expected, I commented too soon before watching enough of this video. I'll keep this comment up though for those who want to read this comment still, for some reason I cannot think of] Uh, about those screencaps of an Animal Crossing 2, that was a hoax. Those screencaps are actually from the Japanese version of the first Animal Crossing, and I think the e+ version we never got. Here's some info about the "first Animal Crossing": There was actually 3 different versions of it. The N64 original version, the enhanced Gamecube version (the one we outside Japan got), and the even more enhanced version of the Gamecube one we got which is the e+ version. The version we never got outside Japan. Furthermore, there are some basic differences between the Japanese version and the English version: What we know as the Wishing Well in the English version, the Japanese version instead had a shrine where the wishing well is at for us in the USA version, Tom Nook and/or one of his shop upgrades (I forget which) has some aesthetic differences. Where there is more American flag-style aesthetics with the English version, has more Japanese aesthetics in the Japanese version. The N64 version forced you to use some sort of wheel to select Japanese characters for text inputs, while the English language Gamecube version gave us a full keyboard to work with. There's more differences than these, but these are what immediately comes to mind for me. Funny that some Japanese-exclusive "holidays" even made it into the English version though, like the Cherry Blossom Festival
