She says something about being confused why you went to go live with animals, ending the letter with, "don't they smell?" Are the animals in Animal Crossing segregated from humans? There's a lot to think about.

my favourite one is from a smug villager in happy home designer. if you talk to him while he's reading he might say something along the lines of: "I was okay with the localisation of this manga until they started talking about donuts. Yeah right, as if Captain Raisubooru would be caught dead eating donuts!" Raisubooru = rice ball. This is literally a reference to that infamous moment in Pokemon!

My favorite AC lore deep cut in ACNH is actually the bottom photo at the Roost of Blathers and Brewster in the park. It's based on a dialogue with Blathers in Wild World. He'll tell you about the time he couldn't get anywhere with his dissertation and he drifted from café to café until he ended up in on "in a park surrounded by skyscrapers" where he met Brewster who told him that "nothing is sadder than a rushed cup of coffee" which gave Blathers the patience to let the writing flow naturally. They have been friends ever since and that photo is taken in that park. You can see the skyscrapers in the back. :) (also, Lyle tried to sell an insurance to Brewster in Wild World and Blathers threw Lyle out of the museum bc Brewster isn't good at spotting grifters.)

Something I just noticed but in retrospect is pretty obvious is that most of the TV channels you can watch in AC star humans. This combined with Mabel's mention of specifically porcupine starring shows makes me wonder if there are certain channels, and places (what with Resettii's mole spa place and the player's mom in the original AC thinking it's weird that you live with animals) specific to certain animals, and if places like your town and the city in City Folk are considered weird for having a variety of species.

Not a lore per se, but a 4th-wall break, is when Hopkins (so I assume also other lazy villagers) in ACNH told me once that he thought he lived in a simulation, and started questioning stuff like "why do trees have 3 different kinds of wood?" and how Tom Nook´s business works oddly etc. xD I was really shocked when I got that dialogue tbh. my favourite piece of obscure lore involves my favourite villager, pietro, and the face paint teardrop under his eye. in the real world, people get teardrop tattoos as a symbol to say that they have killed, done time in prison or have been humiliated. so either he's murdered somebody or have deep trauma from prison or being badly humiliated in some way, or a mix of them.

one bit of lore i love and think a lot about is about reese and cyrus and how they met. in happy home designer, they have dialogue over how they met and i was shocked the first time i saw it because it was so unexpected of them (well... reese especially.) both were delinquents (or "wild" as reese puts it), having met when reese was hanging out near where cyrus and his bike gang were. turns out that they both caught each other's eyes. cyrus, being distracted by reese, then drove and hit into something and she ended up taking him to the hospital and they started dating. which is so wild to me that the most domestic couple used to be a bad boy and bad girl duo.

There’s no question that CJ is a streamer online-as embarrassing as it is to admit, I read _all_ the dialogue _every_ time out of debilitating compulsion and he doesn’t just make stream ‘puns’. Every time you give him more fish he praises you for “keeping his viewers happy,” his first dialogue of the day mentions “coming at you live from…uh, right in front of you!”, he’s been “trending in a HUGE way” and I distinctly remember him using the words ‘livestream’ and ‘followers’ (and even referencing E-sports, confirming internet??) the first time I met him. Plus he constantly has his phone out lol, if he was just obsessed with a literal stream he would have no reason to take a hundred photos of himself and us when we’re not even near a stream or holding our fish 😅 edit: I found a video of someone’s first time meeting CJ and I was remembering right, his introductory dialogue includes: > “I’m tourin’ the islands looking for fresh faces and fresher fish to show off on my *livestream* […] > Fishing is reelin’ in ALL KINDS of streaming numbers right now. *Ever heard of esports?* Well this is SEAsports! > Anywave, I need new fish if I wanna keep my *followers* followin’. In French, default patterns are from "Chépaki de Chépaou" ("I don't know who from I don't know where") and in Happy Home Designer, random characters are designed as wood cats and called "Chépaki". So I think it's an unknown and anonymous character.

I want an Animal Crossing game with Moppina. For the unaware, Moppina is a character mentioned in Wild World and maybe City Folk, usually in a conversation between a normal and peppy villager. I believe there's a few variations of this conversation, but in short: Moppina is a mop that the normal villagers are "friends" with, getting offended when Peppies call her an 'it', as Moppina is a she. Moppina lets the normal villagers try out different hairstyles on her and talk to her... which is kinda depressing, honestly, but the Peppy villagers then change their tune and say that Moppina seems nice. I just want an Animal Crossing game where this sentient mop can be a villager. I'd like that.

In the game Fragile Dreams for the Wii, there's a bunch of letters left behind by people who went through an apocalypse. I remember one was someone who didn't care enough about the main character of an RPG they were playing, so they just named them "AAAAAA", and they talk about now that they're facing their own mortality they feel bad about abandoning AAAAA in the middle of the game and never saving the world (or something like that, it's been a while since I've played the game). Just like how all the monsters are the warped versions of evil people, the AC games take place in another part of the world and all animals are happy reflections of good people. One thing I liked about ACNL and other old AC games was the plethora of Nintendo-themed items. For example, all the things you could get with fortune cookies and the special Wii U, 3DS and Amiibo item sets that could only be obtained by playing very well on your 3DS or Wii U in-game. The only Nintendo-related items I know of in NH are the Mario set (which is always openly available to buy) and the Switch consoles. Nothing special to achieving them, just buy them with bells. Kinda feels less special. And dang it, I think most of us just want to be able to have all the cool items from Mario, Zelda, Star Fox, Nintendogs, Pikmin, etc. In the newest game. Is that too much to ask for? Lol
