What a timely video! Just cleaned out a few games from the collection, and one of the choices was between these two. In the end I realized I enjoy Jaipur more and do think it's a better game, especially realizing that I can play "Lost Cities" with a regular deck of cards and only holding 6 cards in your hand.. sure there are only 4 and not 5 (I don't have the new one with 6 civilizations) but the whole rest of the experience is there! Lay the Ace cards down as the "board", use 2-10 for each suit, the J,Q,K are the three agreement cards and you've got Lost Cities!

What?!? I totally disagree with the conclusion that lost cities have more strategy then Jaipur, it’s the other way around!! Lost cities it 95% luck and 5% strategy you have no way of knowing which colour will come your way and no way to influence that wile the camels in Jaipur together with the hand size limit makes for a tool to block or open up and direct influence the gameplay to mitigate luck. I do agree with the overall view on lost cities as the slightly better game, but that’s only because it’s just so easy to get to the table, the luck element tends to make it less serious of a game so no one is frustrated when they loose and you just have so much fun playing it. Love and own them both ❤️

Between these two wife and I played both but we love Jaipur best! Coloretto isn’t a 2 player game only but we absolutely love the 2 player variant, one of our favorites. But I must say Mandala the new card game for 2 is amazing, out new favorite !

I have the original version of Lost Cities, I actually really like that artwork. I have the app version of Jaipur. I really like both games. My wife really liked Lost Cities. She’s not a gamer at all and I doubt she would want to learn Jaipur. So I think Lost Cities would win out for us.

I like both Jaipur and Lost Cities but Jaipur edges it out for being less mathy. Best two-player game BY FAR is 7 Wonders Duel (with the Pantheon expansion). It's not even close.

I just had to decide between these two games which to gift to a non-gamer and his partner. Both fantastic games, and while personally I enjoy Lost Cities more, I decided to go with Jaipur because of the simpler scoring and being more tactile with those nice tokens. Overall both great games, especially for people new to the hobby.

Skulk Hollow is a brilliant 2 player game! Definitely my favorite! Theme and gameplay are amazing!

Oof, that's a tough choice. Both are great games, although I think Jaipur maybe gets the edge because it has just a little bit more going on and there are multiple strategies you can pursue.

Great video! Personally, I prefer Jaipur precisely because it is more of a race! But which game we prefer is down to taste, both games are excellent, and if someone wants to play Lost Cities with me, I'll be perfectly happy with it.

Wow, the art in both these versions is amazing - I've got the older printings of both games, and I think this new art is so much nicer (not that the old art is *bad*, it's just not as good).

The wife probably leans more towards Lost Cities, I prefer Jaipur. Both are fantastic games. They don't try to be more than they are. They are so smooth, clever and streamlined. Best 2 player card game is by far Star Realms.

I love Shards of Infinity more than Star Realms. They are very similar though. There's also apps of both of these games (both are deckbuilders).

I was initially interested in Shards of Infinity when it came out, but I just haven't prioritized it. Been pushed to the back of my mind. So many good games come out.

How can you possibly suggest deciding between Arn & Tully or Hawk & Animal... My brain’s busted now. I feel like I’ve been hit with a doomsday device.

Panoramic is only cool if that’s the way the cards lay. I would have rather had better individual art for each card. Both are great games but not my first choice. I would go Battlelore 2nd Edition or Memoir ‘44. If It has to be small games then Onitama or Imhotep the Duel. If it has to be a card game than I would go Star Realms or Crimson Company.

Good video. Even though we differ (I prefer Jaipur) I enjoyed the comparison. Just too much math all the time in lost cities. The camel mechanic in Jaipur is so interesting, and works so well. ✌🏽

My Lost Cities isn't nearly as saturated, thats disappointing. I prefer Lost Cities to Jaipur, which feels a bit boring and predictable in comparison.

I have yet to table Lost Cities, but Jaipur was a disappointment for my wife and I; I think we got the strategies pretty quick and felt like there were no difficult choices.
Strictly 2 players games : 1. star realms 2.. memoir 44 3. watergate 4. Santorini 5. braverats 6. Hanabi (not strictly 2p games.. ok) 7. Res Arcana 8. Jaipur (way better than Lost cities IMO) 9. 7 wonders duel 10. Camelot (R. Knizia)

I think Lost Cities has more strategy, it seems to me that Jaipur has more luck. I probably would give game play to Lost Cities because of that, although I like luck at times. But because of the amount of math, the game seems like homework at the end. And because of that I don't want to play it any more. Hence I will choose Jaipur. But neither are in my top favorites. Unfortunately strictly 2 player games have not been super amazing for me, except Patchwork. That is a great game and makes it to my 15th favorite game of all time. Jaipur is my next favorite but drops all the way down to my 69th favorite game. Good yes. Amazing, no. There are plenty of games that I love with 2 players but play more. This however is not what you asked for or talked about, so will leave it.

@@EVILAKUMA Favorite games played with only 2 (whether they are strictly 2 player games or not): 1. Tikal 2. The Quest for El Dorado 3. Century: Spice Road 4. Carcassonne: Hunters and Gatherers (While I actually prefer Amazonas as a game, I think Hunters plays better with 2) 5. Trias 6. Isle of Skye with Isle of Skye: Druids, without it, there are not enough tiles for 2 players. 7. Ticket to Ride: New York 8. Power Grid: the Card Game 9. Adventure Land 10. Santorini

Both are lack of strategy anyway... You have a single way to win just stick to it and that's it. Luck or no luck both games are solvable and thus boring after a while
