I have hiked the superstitions maybe 6 times as Boy Scout and Explorer (olderboy scouts) never had weird experience ,you better bring water. Camped at Dons camp ,the coyotes will steal your food if left out at night. I've heard stories of people being shot at in the superstitions mountains about 50 years ago. I've also heard a story where the Apaches sent women and kids to Lost Dutchman mine and spent a month covering it up. I've never heard of anyone finding gold in the superstitions, of course no one would ever give up where they were finding gold and now it's a Wilderness Area, no mining.

We had a great time went to the Spiral staircase, the Dacite mine, The other staircase mine, detected in the wash above Wards cabin, then the dwellings in Garden Valley. Really cool meeting everyone and hearing the stories.
