Some of the answers are in the Latin motto of the school. When he arrives it translates to "Toward death, toward the light." When he leaves it's "Toward [better], toward the light." So he definitely saved her, but unfortunately the school isn't a real place, so he probably will never find her.
@randomromanianperson7373 жыл бұрын
@Echo Waves well, the snapchat thing gives me a 2016-2017 vibe. My theory is that he travelled back in time trough that snowstorm and then came back ,after he saved her, into the current timeline ( late 2021 when he gets lost for the first time in the snowstorm) . If this is true that mesns she is allive and well but 4-5 years older than him.
@captainbigos92673 жыл бұрын
Can we all appreciate a nice, bitter-sweet ending instead of wanting more explanation? It was bitter because Sam and Ellie probably never met again, and sweet because Sam saved Ellie's life. It was a perfect ending, I think. More explanation would make it too cheesy. Great story!

the snowstorm is meant to be what she feels inside, like the classroom shrinking is her running out of places to run . the eels are her thoughts constantly tormenting her. they all swirl around endlessly . elly is safe now... the clock is moving and that means she fixed it, which she could only do if she wasnt a ghost.
@kiralonely3 жыл бұрын
In a way, the clock ticking again shows that her time now continues. The fact it was his brother's before, who left the way Ellie originally did, it feels like the clock ticking again is a way of saying that her own time, her own life, it's continuing on instead of breaking and stopping like a watch.

@eldritchchaos26633 жыл бұрын
This story hits way too close to home. I lost my brother to suicide early this year, and this time last year was the last time that my family saw him alive before he hung himself in his dorm. This story perfectly encapsulates the helplessness that I have felt every day since we got the news of his death. Every day I wish that I could turn back the clock, to remind him of just how many people love him and how important he is in so many lives, and it completely destroys me inside because I know that just isn't possible. As someone who has also been through these feelings of severe depression, it cuts me ever deeper that I wasn't able to save the one person that I've ever truly cared for from the same darkness which plagues my mind every second of the day. All I want is to hug him one more time, he gave the best hugs, he was so comforting, but I know that I will never hold him again, and that fact leaves me completely shattered. Cherish your loved ones, because you never know what they could be going through.

I'd like to think that Sam still has the piece of paper with her snap, and when he gets home, he races to add her. The morning after, Ellie checks her phone, seeing she has a notification from Snapchat. She opens it up to see a request from Sam. She doesn't immediately know any Sams so she is about to ignore him, but right before that happens, her brain sparks a hint of remembrance. SAM!!! IT'S SAM! She then takes the opportunity to reconnect with him after all the years, ever so eager to talk with him, catch up with him, and especially eager to ask where it was he went, and why it was he was only around for a singular day. She never did quite find that out. But, honestly, more than anything, she was most eager to thank him. Thank him for being the small candle of hope in her seemingly meaningless, abysmal life. Because she always knew that without him, she wouldn't be standing there, having the chance to talk to him now. Sorry this is just my stupid perfect ending because I hate weirdly empty endings such as these. Hell, I don't even know if anyone is gonna read this. If you did, for whatever reason, thanks for reading my ramblings.

That was truely an epic tale & wonderfully narrated by the best story teller on U Tube I think the sheer fact Sam found his watch had begun to restart & began ticking is the proof he was successful in halting Ellies demise It was a complex situation all to do with time, Ellie held in time, Sam diverted into a time not in his vicinity His frequent steps back in time & those Eels were time eaters The simple answer was once he left & saw his watch working once again told his psyche he had been successful Ellie hadnt killed herself He'd been sent to re-align a time sequence that should never have happened I think its left as a story thats up to the listener Ellie is still out there somewhere Maybe he sets out to find her Maybe he meets her in a later part of his life Or maybe in years hence he reads about this girl Ellie now grown & has done something in science or engineering that has a great significance in mankinds benefit He sees her smiling face from the article in a prominent science journal? Thats how i think id see the end of this story, the last senario Very well written tale.

i think the ending is absolutely perfect. at the start of the story he says no one is skilled enough to repair his grandfather's watch. and he just saved the one who can do it. i think the watch symbolizes a broken part of him as well (given the fact that ghost ellie tries to repair the watch while he's trying to save her). and the watch being automatically passed on to him by his brother kinda states that he had closure with his brother's death as well. they saved each other :)

This is an absolute masterpiece! There is so much symbolism and imagery that conveys the ideas! I really love the ending. Sam's watch restarting is like a reciprocating gesture or echo from Ellie as I see it. She was stuck as a ghost in time, cheerful and happy, but broken, just like the watch was majestic, but broken. When Sam, instead of using brute force to fix the broken timeline like he was trying before and instead providing her with what she needed to realise and grow to be beyond the sum of the parts, I think this is also represented by the watch being repaired at the end not bye blatant and showy hologram manipulation, but by something unseen and more ephemeral, yet all the more effective. This story is so beautiful!

God I loved this story, I listened to a lot of scary story’s and all that more as background noise then anything and this story is one off the first I’ve listened to that really invoked real emotion. Good job to whoever wrote this,
