He used the Spanish word "negros", bc English speakers looks like think that it's a negative word (I heared it before used as an insult from them), but it's like if you said blonde, only descriptive, nothing more.

This is an adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, NOT Pride and Prejudice, and I think an excellent job was done! Haven't all us ladies want to actually go into the book and meet our dream man, Mr. Darcy? This character got a chance to do that. Darcy professing his love to Amanda was just heart melting. A lot of men could learn a thing or two from Darcy.

I'm a man and I totally agree. Many members of my sex could learn a thing or three from Mr Darcy. Most guys are so crude and ill-mannered these days, and can't even speak or write in complete sentences. (text messaging doesn't help either)

I agree with CrazyGood88. I've been ruined by Jane Austen's men! Love this scene when he particularly told her that "I would follow you anyhere to be with you." Makes my heart melt...

Love this movie and this Darcy is among the best! Couples in 1800 didn't touch before marriage unless they were dancing, but I say, bring on the kiss!

The scene on the bus is the only part of this wonderful movie that I don't agree with. Tourette's is a devastating nerve disorder that isn't funny. It's a lot more than just saying the wrong thing.
@rachelsewell70267 жыл бұрын
Sheryl L Knapp my husband has Tourette’s and he found it funny. I’m so sorry if you suffer with it because it can definitely be devastating at times but laughing at it can be healthy too. My husband has had times when he had said the n word when he has seen a black person so it was probably a pretty good excuse she came up with in the movie.

In the moment of the story we might all blurt out in surprise of his comment. I wouldn’t take it personally.

I'm fairly sure Darcy wouldn't have been a racist either, I mean, he wasn;t a snob, as was prooved by the story, so he isn't likely to have been biggoted in other ways.
@amoore91328 жыл бұрын
I don't think he was being racist, but the belief at the time was that poc were of a lower status and Darcy would have no reason not to believe that.

I can't see Mr Darcy dabbling in opium! Also, this character is not in my opinion in the spirit of Mr Darcy. Remember, he was proud, and stiff, far too proud and stiff to be as openly soppy as this. I never saw this, & am snooping around to see what it was, it strikes me as a poor experiment gone wrong for people who watched the series but never read the books. Take it she was popping into Boots for a pregnancy test! Don't think you can transfer the subtleties of Jane Austin and those times to the present era.
