I got lost in Shinjuku Station which is not only the busiest station in Tokyo Japan, but is also the busiest subway station in the world! Jessica wanted to find a Daiso (Japanese dollar store) and we went down to the second or third subbasement of one of several malls attached to Shinjuku station. The internet and GPS mostly stopped working. The signs were mostly in Japanese. The crazy thing is that everything connected. It was like being in an ant hill! 4 million people in one tiny area.

I live near a really big mall in Canada called "West Edmonton Mall" and 10 or 15 years ago it used to be the biggest mall world wide, and it is pretty big, but compared to this... My god. This is probably 10 times the size of West Edmonton Mall, and it s a big mall! I don't blame you for getting worked up! That place is a labyrinth of never ending places to spend money!

I get anxieties in heavily populated places. Hell, I get nervous when my town's grocery store is busy. That place seems very cool. All that underground? That would cancel out my anxieties, that's a place I would def go to if I had the chance.

Shinjuku is insane. We got lost night after night whilst staying in Shibuya for 5 nights. Totally get the ant in an ant hill thing, it's a huge amount to take in. I wonder if the locals ever really get used it. Or if there are locals... maybe it's just businesses?

I am not a fan of large crowds either but it's fun sometimes to get lost in the madness! FYI - Most JR (Japan Railway) staff at the train entrance/exit areas and in the JR station offices can speak decent English and are generally more than willing to help you find what you're looking for (They enjoy practicing English with foreigners most of the time) Enjoy the good eats! It's what I remember the most every time I go back to Japan.

Glad you got out in good shape! Shinjuku station is not just the busiest station in Tokyo but busiest in the world. I’m a Californian who has been to Japan 26 times and finally it is much easier for me to navigate Shinjuku station. I’ve seen the Green Peas sign at 1:53 loads of times; it is outside the South East exit. Why did you want to prioritize going to Daiso when they are in America? You felt alone in a crowd? You have a wife you were with! I don’t. I doubt it’s bigger than most American cities. At 5:14 you said “even if you don’t speak English” when you meant “even if you don’t speak Japanese.” I am glad no one in your family suffers from mental illness. If they did, I am sure you would not use the term “insane” for a different meaning so much.

Yo man, it's been awhile, but I wish I had known you had planned to be in Japan. I definitely could have made your life easier. The basic thing to keep in mind about transiting through Shinjuku-eki is knowing if you want to be on the east (higashi) or west (nishi) side of the station when you exit. From that piece of info it is pretty east to get around. Going to and from the different rail and subway lines takes a little more practice. But that mainly comes with experience. BTW people in shorts = weekend or holiday, LOLS. Hope you had a great time.

Hi Drift0r, I've been a sub for some time but haven't posted before. I really appreciate your channel; There's always something new to watch. I laughed myself into a coughing fit with your toilet video and it looks like my brother in law will be a sub after that as well. I just wanted to say thanks for everything you do for the community and the additional non COD related content built into you videos e.g. Drift0r for president, it sets you apart from others in my opinion. On that note I was impressed with your level of understanding on how the President is actually elected and the limits of the executive powers. While in Tokyo I'd suggest 2 things. 1) Check out the Tsukiji Market just after it opens and catch the tuna auctions, It's a sight you won't see again and has backdrop of the main market around it. 2) Try Sukyaki. If I said it was a beef dish with raw egg it sounds awful but it is probably my favourite meal out when in Japan. If you can't stomach the idea of the egg then go for Shabu Shabu Anyway thanks again for the content and have a good trip.
