Here’s my take on this video and song. Personally I took it the other way. The guy with the suitcase was giving them the chance to meet their dead loved ones. Once they were able to meet with them once again they’re becoming really happy because of it. However since they’re unable to let them go this causes them to get screamed at by the loved ones who died to move on and live their lives. However the living (the ones given the photographs) refuse to do so and so end up crumbling and falling apart and end up in a photograph of their own. This allows the man with a suitcase (ie death) to collect them as more people who ended up not being able to move on past their tragedies. For me I viewed it to be a video about people who were never able overcome their grief and let it destroy their lives. It shows what happens if you are unable to come to terms with loss and remain stuck in the past wishing to see their loved ones again. It’s a testament to how phenomenal this music and video are that multiple people can view it in different ways

After 7 years I finally understand what this means... When you can’t move on from the death of your loved ones, if you let sadness consume you to the point where you don’t want to do anything but lay in your sorrow, you will replace soon replace the photo you have of them with yourself. All that sadness and grief isn’t healthy for you, so you must not be sad that their gone, celebrate Bc they were here.

@lukas3887 жыл бұрын
I have never cried for a "celebrity death" until this moment... So many memories - their songs got me through hard times, when I was sad or angry - they put in words and melodies how i felt so many times... I feel heart broken to see him falling as a "victim" of mental illness, my mum suffered from depression, when I was a child and I had my depressive periods as well. Listening to Linkin Park was just one way of coping with my feelings and giving me hope. I will keep on battling my demons and not give up! Maybe their music couldn't save Chester himself and avoid his tragic suicide, but his legacy will keep on living in the hearts and souls of millions. It won't be lost in the echo! I will keep on rising every morning, for me, for loved ones, for you, Chester! Rest in peace brother!

it's just because the combination of mikes knowledge of musical theory the firmness of the band's instrumental skills and the techniques Chester used for his singing. he uses a very uncommon breathing technique. he fully compresses his frontal diaphragm and breaths from his back will using he unique vocal pitch which was on an octave line. this allowed for double resonance, firm vocals, a clean tone, complete control, and an overwhelming amount of power capability due to the control of contortion pitch and breathing his technique allowed for. it would be possible for someone to mimic a sound similar to his with enough practice. but he is a legend and will always have done it first so theyd never replace him.

Since the guy with the photos is supposed to be an “Angel” I’ve always considered this entire video depicting “Passed on ones calling their lost loved ones home.” Basically, the people who want the photos are dead and earthbound and the people who appear from the photos are someone they loved in life helping them move on. Really gets you in the feels.
@AuroraWhite283 жыл бұрын
Or could be the another way around who knows, the ones that are dead are showing up to help the person they knew love them to help them move on so they won't be forever sad because of their loses and in the end they are by your side, not in the natural way, but in the ghost form.
@peterthomas1873 жыл бұрын
@@Eldrygg Nah on the official explanation he’s an Angel. The people look relieved and at peace as they crumble to dust and go into the photos. It was never explicitly stated but IMO the Angel is there to liberate the people, who are earth bound spirits in a desolate ruin, by using the spirits of their loved ones who they miss dearly.
@GiorgiaPinti2 жыл бұрын
I think it's about grief and loss which means that death is not automatically implied. Could be anything, even divorce or letting go of a toxic relationship of codependency.
@rogue89032 жыл бұрын
Actually every song the band had created have their own theories. Different albums with different songs. That theory is not understood by many but a few are still aware of it. Linkin Park isn't your ordinary band. It's more than that.
@realitylime48962 жыл бұрын
I think he gives them a chance to face a grief or loss they’re dealing with before passing so they could have eternal peace. Facing the cheating husband or girlfriend, an aborted child, a kid left for adoption, not sure about the old lady and boy. All supposition on my part. Maybe he’s Saint Peter offering this as the keeper to the gates. A penance they need to serve before passing. Because the people in the photos look heartbroken when they meet their ‘person’. Great video…even better song!

Losing Chester Bennington today was a big blow especially to people from my generation whether you know it or not. Linkin Park was one of the bands that we went through grade school hearing. Even if not a fan, you couldn't turn on the radio most days and not hear a Linkin Park song come on. Linkin Park left behind songs that will be played for years to come, and I guess as an artist that's all you really want. Though his personal issues eventually caught up to him, I think people will instead remember Chester Bennington as the extremely talented lead vocalist for one of the most popular bands to come along in our lifetime, and me personally thinks that is an incredible legacy to leave behind R.I.P.

I have a theory that this song is deeply connected with their previous album A Thousand Suns. A Thousand Suns is a conceptual album about nuclear war and the apocalypse, with the song The Catalyst being the climax of the album representing the explosion of a nuclear bomb and the end of the war. Linkin Park's next album is LIVING THINGS with it's first song being this one: LOST IN THE ECHO; a song about overcoming the deaths of loved ones and moving on (at least that's my interpretation). In this video we see this man in a ruined city with smoke in the distance (you can see it at the start of the video), being the aftermath of the nuke; and this guy helps tortured souls of all ages to finally rest in peace (people who probably died/lost someone dear in the war). And this basically this is the song that chronologically follows The Catalyst (if we don't count The Messenger) in LP's record history. I don't really know about the rest of the album but I really feel that this song is a direct continuation of ATS.

It's a hybrid theory ( hahaha.. Haha..ha... Sorry)
@yoshka10384 жыл бұрын
If you think like that, Minutes to midnight could be connected as well, Minutes to Midnight is about the time where the clock of earth reaches 0/midnight and everything comes to an end, the midnight effect could be the war of ATS
@brauliozt87544 жыл бұрын
@@yoshka1038 That's a very good interpretation. I've always thought that the "midnight" happens somewhere in the actual MTM album and "The Little Things Give You Away" represents the end/aftermath of that event, but it might also refer to ATS being an apocaliptic nuclear war.

Lost In The Echo - Linkin Park Lyrics You were that foundation Never gonna be another one, no I followed, so taken So conditioned I could never let go Then sorrow, then sickness Then the shock when you flip it on me So hollow, so vicious So afraid I couldn't let myself see That I could never be held Back up, no, I'll hold myself Check the rep, yep you know my rail Forget the rest let them know my hell Damn, I'm back yep, my soul ain't sell, Kept respect up the vets stay their, Let the rest be to tell they tale That I was there saying And these promises broken Deep, feeble Each word gets lost in the echo So one last lie I can see through This time I finally let you Go, go, go Test my will, test my heart Let me tell you how the odds gonna stack up Y'all go hard, I go smart How's it working out for y'all in the back, huh? I've seen that frustration Big cross, they're lost but don't know And I've come back unshaken Let down, I've lived and let go So you can let it be known I don't hold back, I hold my own I can't be mad, I can't be calm I can't sing flat, it ain't my tone I can't fall back, I came too far Hold myself up and love my scars Let the bells ring wherever they are 'Cause I was there saying And these promises broken Deep, feeble Each word gets lost in the echo So one last lie I can see through This time I finally let you Go, go, go No, you can tell 'em all now I don't back up, I don't back down I don't fold up, and I don't bow I don't roll over, don't know how I don't care where the enemies are Can't be stopped, all I know go hard! Won't forget how I got this far And every time, saying And these promises broken Deep, feeble Each word gets lost in the echo So one last lie I can see through This time I finally let you Go, go, go

You got some wrong: (yeah) (yo) You were that foundation Never gonna be another one, no. I followed, so taken So conditioned I could never let go Then sorrow, then sickness Then the shock when you flip it on me So hollow, so vicious So afraid I couldn't let myself see That I could never be held Back or up no, I'll hold myself Check the rep, yep you know mine well Forget the rest let them know my hell There and back yet my soul ain't sell Kept respect up,the best they fell, Let the rest be the tale they tell That I was there saying… [Chester:] In these promises broken Deep below Each word gets lost in the echo So one last lie I can see through This time I finally let you Go, go, go. Test my will, test my heart Let me tell you how the odds gonna stack up Y'all go hard, I go smart How's that working out for y'all in the back, huh? My friends are sick and tired of me making Linkin Park references. But in the end it doesn't even matter. Guess I'd better start breaking the habit.
