Linkin Park helped get me through my service time in the US Navy. This one really stuck home with me, I've lost Sailors and Marines that I worked with during my service time, having to go to their family and help them through that loss is never easy and you end up leaving a piece of your heart with them. One of Chesters finest works in "Castle of Glass" and yet a sad one since now he is now a Crack in that Castle himself. Rest in Peace Chester, may you be at peace and know that your voice, music, and legacy continues to live on through all of us.

Not many will read this comment, but I remember this song was like a birthday gift back in 2012. Now, just after turning 21, seeing this song recommended, it feels like a fulfilled prophecy, Castle of Glass brought more tears to my eyes than most things I ever experienced. May Chester's memory stay with us forever more.

Castle of Glass lyrics Take me down to the river bend Take me down to the fighting end Wash the poison from off my skin Show me how to be whole again Fly me up on a silver wing Past the black where the sirens sing Warm me up in a nova's glow And drop me down to the dream below 'Cause I'm only a crack in this castle of glass Hardly anything there for you to see For you to see Bring me home in a blinding dream, Through the secrets that I have seen Wash the sorrow from off my skin And show me how to be whole again 'Cause I'm only a crack in this castle of glass Hardly anything there for you to see For you to see 'Cause I'm only a crack in this castle of glass Hardly anything else I need to be 'Cause I'm only a crack in this castle of glass Hardly anything there for you to see For you to see For you to see

I like the song, but here comes the rant anyways. First of all, name me any metal band that does that SPECIFICALLY for getting likes, or for the over-all over the topness of the metal band in question. Ya know... This song meant a lot when it came out. It meant more when Chester left us. I never, until today, watched the video. Growing up in a military family, you know when a soldier walks up in dress, it's not good news. And here, today, the music video makes it mean even more. I remember getting a phone call from my best friend and it felt like a shotgun through the heart. It's weird how a music video can make a song that already mean so much, mean more. Thank you Linkin Park for the great video. But an even bigger thank you for giving me music for almost 25 years that have helped me through the bad times. I love this band and will always love them. My kids will be thankful that we had Chester for as long as we did, because I know for damn sure, I am. Thank you again Linkin Park for the music. I love you guys for the years of great music.
@wraithdoppleganger5570 Жыл бұрын
You're so right. I'm an Army MilBrat & the only issue I have with the video is that it appears that Navy officer is making the notification to a young child & that is wrong. It should have been to an adult parent/ spouse with the kids there etc.

I said something a lot like that at my grandmother's funeral. After everything else I had to say about her, I said "if it's true we live more in the lives of other than we do in our own, then death isn't really the end for her. It's just the time when she begins to live on solely in our hearts and minds, so it's up to each and every one of us to decide what sort of life she gets to continue to have. Will we neglect her or cherish her. Will we keep alive all the bitterness and petty jealousies that inevitably creep into our relationships with other people, or will we make sure to carry forward the best parts of her so those things, so the best of her, lives on to become part of our posterity? If I have one favor to ask, it's simply this: Help my grandmother live the best life she can from now on, so she can continue to do what she's always done-- what she's always wanted to do-- and help you live yours."
