-------
Lost in Translation is a 2003 romantic comedy-drama film written and directed by Sofia Coppola. Bill Murray stars as Bob Harris, a fading American movie star who is having a midlife crisis when he travels to Tokyo to promote Suntory whisky. This is my favorite movie. Take two lines from this movie "I gotta get out of here as soon as I can" and then later "I don't want to leave." It shows you what their relationship in this movie did for him. Two people lost, struggling, and have a mutual bond with one another. I believe they did have a strong attraction and romantic interest in one another. You can tell the way she looked at him and the way he looked at her. When he looked at the photo of her from karaoke night and he stared at it longingly. Both they both know any romantic relationship between the two of them isn't possible for so many reasons. It's beautiful and happy, yet sad at the same time. But what's important isn't whether or not in a perfect world they'd like to have been romantically involved with one another. What's important is what the relationship they did have did for each of them at their low points. Good reaction!

Great first review you two. Lost in Translation is one of my favourite ever films which I have a special connection with. Glad you both enjoyed it, on the subject of what Bob whispered to Charlotte at the end of the movie- only Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson know what was said as it wasn't in the script and Bill was just improvising. Makes the film that extra bit special I think. All the best to both of you- cheers ;)

Love this movie so much, and your reaction was great. The one part I'd disagree, but only partly: I think Charlotte's husband is played as sort of a villain in the movie, but not in that he's a bad guy. Just that he's superficial. His fake laugh and over-the-top mannerisms with the actress, his interest in the clothes worn by the band he photographed but not in what Charlotte was knitting, etc. While Bob and Charlotte's characters are really defined by the things they feel deeply but don't say, John is all about saying and doing things in a rote sort of way. Not a traditional villain, but a figure that stands as the opposite of our main characters. Looking forward to seeing more of your stuff!

Ahh right ok! Very interesting observation, never really thought about it that way, I (Colin) was thinking he was more nervous when meeting the actress than anything else but your take makes much more sense. Glad you enjoyed the reaction and enjoy what's to come 😊.

Literally one of my favorite movies. Used to just go to sleep with it on. And just to clarify, basically they're both unhappy in their relationships, so it's kind of an emotional affair. They both see how good they could have been together in another life but that's not what happened and they both accept it. Unrelated Recommendations: Attack the Block, Almost Famous, Dazed and Confused, Butterfly Effect, Empire Records, V for Vendetta, The Martian, Stranger than Fiction.

Awwww, you guys were nervous! It must be SO weird watching a movie and giving a running commentary at the same time! You are a great couple! I felt the same way when I saw it. That ending just kills me. I agree: it's so much better that they DIDN'T get together. Also: I love all kinds of movies, but reaction channels often only do big exploding helicopter flicks and the like.....so it's a nice change of pace to see a reaction to THIS movie! By all means, do whatever it takes to gain more subscribers.....but I hope you "mix it up" and include movies like this from time to time! Or any "change of pace". Hitting classics is never a bad thing, go back as far as you like, fantastic movies can be found in every decade of film, even the silent era (some would say ESPECIALLY the silent era! lol) PS: I'll give you one! There's a great movie that a lot of Americans know and love....and it's a Scottish movie! "Local Hero", directed by Bill Forsyth. It takes place in Scotland, it's a beautiful comedy, and I'm dying to see a Scottish reactor watch it! (Right now, all I know is Dawn Marie as a Scottish reactor!) PSS: As far as comedies that other reactors do, I'll bet if you guys do Monty Python & The Holy Grail and Monty Python's Life Of Brian, that will DEFINITELY get some views. And since you did "The Big Lebowski", I'll throw out my favorite three favorite Coen Brothers films: their first two, "Blood Simple" and 'Raising Arizona"....and "Fargo". Ok, enough of my babble! THANK YOU! This was so much fun!!!! You're a beautiful couple, clearly in love!

PS: Just to clarify: when I said "Local Hero" is a movie lots of Americans know and love.....it's only because I've heard that most reaction video subscribers tend to be from the U.S. so that's all I meant by that.

Lovely reaction to a lovely film with a lovely accent to boot. If you haven't watched it yet I highly suggest you watch Her by Spike Jonze, as it is a sort of "sister" film to Lost in Translation considering Jonze and Coppola had split a couple of months before she directed LiT as a symbolic message to him, and Her is his symbolic message to her in response.

@@weebitreacts Recently I've been following/listening to this band called Swim School. But going back to early 90s: Teenage Fanclub is one of my top 5 bands of all time. Beyond that, off the top of my head, Belle & Sebastian, Mogwai, Travis, Snow Patrol, CHVRCHES, Arab Strap, Boards of Canada. Scotland punches above your weight class when it comes to music. I'd love to make it over there someday. It's a long flight from Los Angeles.
