Yeah, season one was indeed riveting. Season two was great. The rest was just pretty good. It is a damn shame they were just making it up as they were going along. At least to about season 4 or 5. Then they made up a mythology and tried to retcon the first seasons into it. I liked it all though

I think the problem that LOST faced was that it peaked so early with episodes like Walkabout and Pilot (parts 1 & 2) that it became almost impossible to keep that pace.

I think it was a great poetry. He had such a sad, ordinary, tragic death. But they never killed the characters arc and honored it for the rest of the show through Jack’s redemption and belief in John. He was the first person that greeted Jack in the afterlife. It was beautiful to me even if sad.

Totally, the sixth season is way better as a complete rewatch, it's still the worst season IMO, mostly because how they messed up the pace, but it comes full circle. Furthemore Desmond time traveling conciousness arc gets him to the purgatory in a good plot point.

After years i realised something. In this scene all of us thought that John is talking about when he saw the monster. That's not true. What John Locke is talking about in this scene is about the cave where this "light" comes from. Jacob's mother named it "the eye of the island". So i remember that John Locke said the same thing 6 seasons before. It means that John Locke saw that cave in the season 1, but they (the producers and the crew) never told us.
