Julian, thanks so much for this video! I thought I lost my swing a couple of days ago…devastating! I was doing so much better, then disaster! Watched your video, went to the range with two large buckets of balls, and did your exercises. Regained my swing and had a very enjoyable round later. Thanks!

Always a nice feeling when you find your swing again. What was the reason you lost it in the first place
@paulhardt83752 ай бұрын
I was practicing my wedges (52, 56, 60 degrees). I was hitting down fairly hard to take advantage of the “bounce” of these wedges. I went, then, to hit mid-irons (6, 7) and I was unconsciously I using the wedge swing….a fair amount of tension in my arms. Totally shanked the mid-irons and couldn’t stop. My wedges were ok, but irons… terrible. So, your exercises were great for getting me out of the tension.

By pure coincidence I played my worst round in 3 years today, my swing had gone, and a big confidence blow....but your video restored my belief in my swing and how to get it back on track. I realise everything today was out of sync, nothing coordinating...why today I don't know, but your video has helped me understand my faults.

This is very useful. Can you just advise about basic first backswing. You say you are just turning but it looks as if you are just swinging back but just on inside to waist level and this will make you turn.

Hi Peter, thanks for your comment, if I were you I would try this without over thinking the movement, feel is such an important part of the golf swing and this is designed to heighten the feel. Give it a go and please let me know how you get on

I noticed you keep your feet pretty square. For those with bad backs, would you recommend flaring out your right foot a bit to make the turn in your backswing easier?

Hi Thomas, I’d sat yes, flaring them will help elevate extra strain on your back 👍

Julian, my problem is the opposite. Even at 75 yrs old, I still fight by body sliding too much and dropping my right side, hurting my lower back

Sunday, i just recovered from being sick and nearly bed ridden for 4 days... I went to the range, i hit 1 ball. swing was normal. through 1/2 of my second bucket of balls, i all of a sudden couldn't hti the ball to save my life. i still had dayquil and some extra ibuprofen in me. i woke up the next day insanely sore. back sore arms sore... wonder if this is causing me to hit really bad. i attempted against today (monday) and it was more the same. it was as if i couldn't connect with a ball to save my life. .

Hi Eamonn, have you been working on lagging the club by any chance? Maybe shaft lean? Just interested to understand what you might be doing. Regards, Julian
@FD-nz7qv Жыл бұрын
Here's my dilemma. I'll take a month off without playing but yet when I pick up the club again, I'll hit about a 20 yard draw consistently. I'll open the face at address to get the ball out to the right and draw in but then it starts straighten out. I'll set the clubface flush at address for that reason and I'll start hitting it dead straight. Then little by little it'll start going right as if I'm hitting it with an open face until I'm hitting it 20 yards right with the occasional shank to the right. I'll take another month off and the nightmare begins all over again lol.
@JulianMellor Жыл бұрын
Sounds like there is a fundamental issue going on. Set up is the first place to check and then the swing path. Might be worth thinking about having a FaceTime / zoom lesson to help you really understand what’s wrong.
@immermanarnold29382 жыл бұрын
Hi Julian hope you are fine Yesterday at the range it's was really frustrated hitting 8 out of 10 shots with a pitching wedge way fat behind the ball then I moved slightly closer to the ball and found a big improvement pls can you explain this Best wishes Arnie Immerman from South Africa
@JulianMellor2 жыл бұрын
Hi Arnie, firstly well done for making such an important change, if you were slightly stretching for the ball it makes transferring your weight more difficult. The fat shots often come from your weight being too much on your back foot at impact. Did you notice any difference with your turn and weight transfer?
