I just recently played Lost Ruins of Arnak solo, it was really fun. I came here to see if I missed any rules after my play. Paul taught this exactly how I read and learned it from the rulebook. I totally recommend this video to learn from. Keep up the excellent work.

Thanks for the video. Helped us learn this a lot. I presume you used Loki to "play" with birds so you could record those chirping sounds for the transitions. That type of ingenious use of an intern is what separates you from other reviewers. Good job.

Thanks for the clear and concise explanation Paul. I played this game twice during Spiel and yet it seems that there were some rules that we missed back then. On a side note, I think the amount of advertisements were a bit on the excessive side, specially for a commissioned video.
@GamingRulesVideos4 жыл бұрын
KZbin turned the ads on. I have to manually go in and turn them off now, which is just taking time, and I'm slowly going through them. I will remove them now. On the other matter - were your games of this over Spiel ones run by CGE? If so, please can you contact me with the details as I'm sure they will want the feedback.

I have questions! 1. Do you HAVE to use the effect of the bonus tile and idol as soon as you get it, or can you save it for later? For example, if you get the resource upgrade- tile/idol and you don't yet know what you need, OR if you're get to flip your exhausted assistant back but you haven't used them yet, do you have to use it/discard without benefits? 2. Can you move your archeologist around (on your turn after people start passing) as long as you have the resources during one round, or is the usage limited to 2 per round?
@GamingRulesVideos10 ай бұрын
1. Yes. 2. No. Once the worker is placed, you cannot move them (unless you have a card effect that allows you to)

May I ask when overcoming a Guardian that requires a "booth," may I apply the Travel Hierarchy rule and play a plane icon instead?
@forbiddenforest53273 жыл бұрын
I'd rather have less info and more real-world examples TBH Paul. This is akin to reading the rulebook at speed and I felt totally steamrollered after a minute or so. I think the chap at Knights around the table has the best approach to rule telling - he almost does it in reverse, with snapshot gameplay examples for KEY gameplay moves with setup AT THE END, with a touch of humour to sugar the pill. Most folk can understand 60% of a rulebook with a thorough browse. If the rulebook is already in front of me then a series of actual play examples, maybe in rulebook order, would be hugely useful - and I don't mean another 2 hour long playthrus here either. There is this obsession with over-detailing rules everywhere, but it's amazing how much information a handful of very short gameplay examples can relate. Are we all really so lazy we need the whole thing re-explaining?
@GamingRulesVideos3 жыл бұрын
Different people like different styles and that's ok. Ryan makes great videos, but I know a number that find the humour in them very distracting. So yeah, its good there are different styles of video out there.
@forbiddenforest53273 жыл бұрын
@@GamingRulesVideos Do appreciate your efforts Paul, and I appreciate your niche is thorough rules vids for a handful of great pubs. Also agree Ryan is a frustrated actor at heart, with a far bigger ego that you!. I think my main tip is that even hyper-accurate rules vids can relay 90% of gameplay 'feel' with a VERY small handful of examples - maybe you could do a 3-min bitesized version of gameplay examples than can be used alongside the rulebook. Keep up the good work - you always look tired on your vids - don't get too stressed by life!
