@ettelchocolate good question. I think one reason is because Locke's influence has a great impact especially with the people who he used to know. For example, Locke and Claire were good friends before everything started. E.G--locke made a crib. Another reason is that he was the chosen leader after Ben got exiled.

@TheSeanieB i think having seen episode 11 its quite clear the flash sideways is one dominated by the mib island sank he left and everyone got what he promised them,i.e sayid gets nadia ben gets his dads approval eloise son daniel is still alive and widmore finally respects desmond,but the reality is too "perfect" and its all about to crash and burn.
