Juliet didn't survive the fall. She just wasn't killed instantly. That's why she wanted to detonate the bomb. Because she was dying.

I think she actually detonated the bomb because, as she says in this episode, she wants Sawyer to never come to "this damn island." In The Incident, everyone is onboard with detonating the bomb, including her. She wants the Oceanic 815 people to arrive safely at LAX, even if that means she's stuck on the island still under Ben's control. I see it as the ultimate act of selflessness.

People who hate this finale only have the problem, that they expected something different. They probably wanted more of the Island's mythology (like myself would have loved), but this is about THE CHARACTERS. And once you've realized and accepted that (just like certain characters), yes, it's the best, most beautiful and satisfying season finale. (I meant series finale) You gonna need The New Man in Charge though for ultimate satisfaction....

@hansmahr8627
@hansmahr8627 2 жыл бұрын
I think from the very beginning she had the mindset that this show just doesn't make any sense. Maybe it was influenced by some of the criticisms you often hear from people (which I think are mostly unfounded). The show throws some crazy shit at you but for the most part, there's a point to all of it, it's all connected. And then there's a strong consistency in terms of how Lost uses themes that come up again and again, starting in the first episode and ending with the finale. She hasn't picked up on any of that and seems to think there's no meaning to it all. She also doesn't really appreciate the incredible character work in the show. Part of it might also be that her husband never tries to guide her. Had he told her to be more patient and to trust the writers while also pointing out the themes and broader context of the plot she might have appreciated the show more. Now every time there's a twist she thinks it's just meaningless. This was done a lot better by other group or couple reactions where one person had already seen the show. I think she's the first reactor I've seen who doesn't like the show. I mean, take the Locke reveal. The writers didn't just pull it out of their asses. It was heavily hinted at. Locke had changed after death, he became more confident and began to show a ruthless side to him. He was effortlessly playing Ben who until then had always been the mastermind who played others like a fiddle. And we've seen in earlier seasons that people who supposedly had come back from the dead weren't who they were before. In the episode where Eko dies, it is already strongly implied that it's the smoke monster who impersonates these dead people. But to see and appreciate all of that you have to trust the show and you have to pay attention to how it all fits together. If you don't do that, of course the Locke reveal will seem like another random thing pulled out of the hat.

@@hansmahr8627 it could be where they are watching these once a week and her memory is not that great. When I watched the show I binged the entire series one after the other because I couldn't stop watching it. I didn't take time to reflect or think at all and got to the end and was disappointed and thought it didn't make sense. I'm not sure I understood that Locke was the smoke monster either at the time. After watching Lost Explained it all came together for me and made me have a greater appreciation for the show and what I had initially missed. You can even see this in their commentary between episodes. "Do you remember what happened last episode?" "No" "Well what are your thoughts?" "Let's watch the next episode." There is very little reflection or discussion about the show itself compared to other channels which suggests she is doing as I did and binging without understanding. Some channels spend more time discussing the episode than the amount of time spent watching it. I loved the show when I first watched it and was obsessed, after Lost Explained I'm even more appreciative for it and the characters. Especially how well the entire show is weaved together as a whole while keeping so much unrevealed as it goes.

@@krispurdy78 Sure, you're not going to get everything on a first watch. I didn't figure out that Locke was the smoke monster on my first watch. But once it was revealed, it made so much sense because of all the stuff that came before. Lost often has these moments where a twist completely changes your perspective on things that happened in previous seasons. I wouldn't expect anyone to notice everything the first time around (I've seen the show 6 or 7 times and I still discover new things every time) but I think you should still get the feeling that there's more to it than just throwing crazy twists at you with no purpose at all.
@krispurdy78
@krispurdy78 2 жыл бұрын
@@hansmahr8627 yeah but that's just the easiest way for someone to dismiss the show as being poorly written. It's easier for them to fault the show for not explaining things well or making crazy plot changes rather than fault themselves for just not understanding why it's happening. They can place the blame for being stupid on the writers rather than themselves almost as a defense mechanism which seems to be what she is doing. She likes solving mysteries apparently and is good at it for the most part when the plot is simplistic, but when it comes to this show, she can't figure it out and rather than admit it's brilliant in it's writing, it's easier to think it's not her that can't figure it out, it's just random made up shit that no one could figure out. And this is not to fault her, she couldn't possibly appreciate the show until she understands it, which is why I hope they watch the Lost Explained series so she will get it. I did not like the ending the first time seeing it and was highly disappointed like many others. It's only when I understood things better that I started to love the show. I did the same thing with Game of Thrones and thought the ending sucked. But in that case it may have been well deserved due to the writers just trying to hurry up and end the show since they ran out of source material rather than it being a lack of understanding the show on my part.

I hate that I'm stuck in this hate loop, I always watch Lost reactions because I'm addicted to the damn show. But to come here every week to see someone not give a shit about your favourite show sucks. Not paying attention, not remembering anything, blaming the show for her own lack of understanding. I'd be so happy if they just pulled the plug the pain is too much 🤦‍♂️😅 On the plus side Neil Reacts Lost reactions are great!

Not everyone that dislikes the show is just too dumb to be able to understand it. I really don't like this a righteous attitude some fans have. Some people have legitimate criticisms of the continuity, and the creators of the show said a lot of things and then went back on them. The idea that critics of the show are just too dumb to "get it," is pervasive among the lost community and it's really unfortunate

And for what it's worth I think it's a great show, with a lot of bad writing. I still enjoy watching it because of the acting, and the music and as a guilty pleasure of sorts. But I think there are very legitimate and obvious plot holes and no, it's not because I don't "get it." I mean the fact that they are abandoned the pregnancy plot line, and nobody can give a reasonable answer of what the island even is that this point.... The creators promised they had a master plan and I think it's pretty obvious at this point that they didn't.

@@michaelcorcoran8768 “guilty pleasure” LOST is far from perfect, and not exactly the most sophisticated high-brow show. But it’s also far, far from some dumb action movie or soap opera that you still enjoy and would call a “guilty pleasure.” There are various aspects of LOST that I would put amongst the greatest that television has to offer. Some of the greatest characters, some of the greatest episodes of television, some of the best scenes, some of the best music and some of the best acting. It also was very experimental and unique for a mid 2000’s network television show in terms of its structure, writing and how it was produced. Think about what tv was like back then. There was just nothing like LOST. Everything was safe and cookie cutter. Calling it a “guilty pleasure” is just an insult and shows you don’t really appreciate what you’re watching.

Well given how they built up the show in 5 Season's...they had to end it somewhat gracefully. I think they did a decent enough job. Much like Babylon 5, it's the journey to the end, and the friends that we made that make those shows so re-watchable.

The biggest problem with the show was when it was on the air, The creators promise they would be a lot of the answers that ended up never coming. They promised nobody would ever come back from the dead, that there would be a physical explanation for a lot of the mythology. They use the term science fact instead of science fiction, and they just abandon most of that stuff by the end. There are also some gaping huge plot holes. It didn't bother me that much because I've binged watched it after the fact, but if I was watching this live, I can understand my people are mad. Their creators promised a lot, insisted nobody would be able to come back from the dead, promise there wouldn't be any kind of snow globe endings and.... Well they kind of just said screw that at the end

@@michaelcorcoran8768 Having watched the show enough to know it by heart, I can safely say that most every question was answered in some way. It may have been through context clues that you certainly wouldn't understand immediately upon first viewing, but it's all in there. There's one very obvious sequence that has no true answer unless you're familiar with some of the secondary material that was released while the show was on the air, but for the most part the answers are there. What gaping plot holes are you referring to? I'm confident I can give you some answers when they're done with the reaction videos as to not spoil anything. There are certainly some leaps but not anything "gaping" in my opinion. I also wouldn't hold creators/writers changing their minds against them. As somewhat a writer myself, sometimes that's how it happens and is often just the most natural way to write. Writers make things up as they go along. The show was very obviously always going to be sci fi/fantasy regardless of whether they said "science fact" (hadn't hear that one myself), that much is apparent in the first few episodes.

@@michaelcorcoran8768 Other than Sayid, does anyone else really come back from the dead? And Sayid is only dead for a few moments. I fail to see how that is a major complaint. My opinion: The island in season 6 is sad, because a lot of things changed, many characters are dead in previous seasons, there are abandoned places, and I dont like the temple's atmosphere. The new timeline is interesting, more than the flashforward, but the characters are in Los Angeles, so I choose the island, the classic timeline is the better.....

Why are you super annoyed with Jack? He's not to blame for Juliet's death. There is no way the island went underwater in 1977. In one of the Season Five episodes, Richard told Sun in 2007 that he had witnessed the deaths of the Losties when the Jughead bomb was triggered. As it turned out, he was wrong about them dying. And typical Sawyer. I feel sorry for him, but he is behaving in his usual manner - using his anger to blame the wrong person whenever he suffers a loss or is harmed. He blamed Anthony Cooper for his parents' deaths, when his father, Mr. Ford was really to blame. He solely blamed Tom Friendly for Walt's kidnapping and getting shot, when it was Ben who ordered the kidnapping and one of the Others shot him because he had reached for a gun. He blames Jack for Juliet's death, when Stuart Radzinsky and his ridiculous obsession with drilling toward the energy source were really to blame. Daniel, Jack and Juliet were right to trigger that bomb. And may I suggest you guys just watch the season unfold? You'll learn the truth in the end.

There are these people here in your comments who keep posting links to some suspiciously sexual sounding sites in Spanish. I have flagged 3 of them, but I doubt that it's gonna do a lot. I just find that really annoying, because I've experienced something similar in the past, where such commentors would actually follow me on every video, I made a comment on and reply with nonsense to it (which ironically, whenever I re-replied to that, it wouldn't work! It always disappeared), just in order to promote their stupid scam sites. I think they are bots. Just wanted to draw your attention to that problem. It's the first time, I've noticed it on this channel. But, as I've said, I've dealt with such a problem in the past and although I got at least two emails back from KZbin, saying that they don't see any spam or explicit linked content in those comments, after a few more weeks, those replies that I had reported all went away. As I said, for a short while, it happened on MANY videos, basically every new time, that I commented something somewhere. I just think, it's annoying that shit like this keeps happening on KZbin......

If Juliet detonated the hydrogen bomb by beating on it with a rock, how did she manage to survive the blast and travel back to the present? I wish everyone who ever watched this show really took the time to consider that. There's so much unnecessary confusion this season...

Because she was a candidate, Jacob touched her (remember Richard and Jack and the dynamite scene?). Once they traveled back to the present and she reunited with Sawyer the Island was done with her, so she died. That was my take on it at least.
@TheBS1000

@@littlebunnyvideoproduction2278 ~Spoilers ahead~ Juliet wasn't a candidate. The season 5 finale showed flashbacks of Jacob interacting with everyone who turns out to be a candidate, but when it came to Juliet's flashback, Jacob was no where to be seen. All that scene showed was Juliet and her sister Rachel at a young age getting scolded by their parents. That was a clue that she was going to die. She wasn't a part of Jacob's plan. The reason she survived the blast was because there wasn't a blast. The bomb didn't blow up. She beat on the bomb with a rock to no avail until she flashed away back to the present day. That's why the Swan Station still existed in 2004 and was operational. That's why Radzinsky, who would have otherwise been in the blast radius, lived long enough to blow his brains out inside the completed Swan Station when he and Kelvin Inman were stationed there. That's why Miles' dad, who would have also been in the blast radius, lived long enough to make the orientation video for the Swan Station in which he sported a new prosthetic arm (His real arm was crushed during the incident). Basically, after all the main characters flashed back to the present day, the few members of the DHARMA Initiative who were still at the site in 1977 used the concrete mixer to seal off that pocket of electromagnetic energy (like Chernobyl, as Sayid noted in season 2), then they recovered the unexploded bomb and used it to create the Swan Station's fail safe system. Technically, whatever was left of that bomb didn't blow until Desmond activated the fail safe in 2004, which finally released that energy (as Faraday had intended) and imploded the hatch.
