Disclaimer: I do this in a kind of commentator notes format so pardon the mess and any spoilers. I get that shadow is a power buff, but putting it on another Gen 13, who is even less experienced than Ava, just seems needlessly risky. Let alone one who its not hard to justify their final death. Yeah randomly looking out into Oblivion/Abyss will likely end in grasping Lasombara or one of its eldritch denizens. On one hand you don't have the shadow, on the other Kevin might want to kill you on principle for losing something so critical to Sybil. Well that would be a kicker if Olley's Mawla was a Methusalah in disguise, and would explain why he wouldn't embrace Olley since that would make Olley a Gen 5 baby, who fleshcrafting wouldn't hide that degree of power.. Feels like you danced around the obvious answer that if Monanto is that loyal to Lasombara, he brought the shadow back to use her as a sacrifice to him. This shouldn't be a hard leap even without the out of character knowledge that he was more less the leader of the Shadow Palace loyalists, during the Anarch Revolt. Sure Critias has his own theory, but joining the Cam after Lasombara was "gone" is hardly turning against him. Came close to that later though. I feel like Emi should be old enough to know there is always the Tzimtizsce solution, even if it likely requires a donor body to do that without reducing other stats.

I Try to remember my times playing VtM 3rd edition - was Montano in this not the loyal Lasombra-child who had to flee after the diablerie of the Lasombra- Antedeluvian and his rival "brother" took the place of Lasombra and was hunting him. Is this storyline in VtM 5th still the same or did they change this? Btw Margareths new hairstyle is interesting, gives her bit of an asian look.

Howdy! Mike (ST) here! Short answer is, I never fully adhere to known “canon” (lots of it is left up to interpretation anyway). Mostly because I know a lot of people, myself included, are heavily versed in it and I want to surprise and keep people, even vets, a little on their toes and left questioning! 😊

In our old campaign my Storyteller also used Montano as a side character, but we never really met him in person and first after 10 years of playing the campaign I figured out who this misterious character was. So I was courious if their was more than the name used here for this story.

Who really knows why Malkavians do or don't do anyhing? They may have seen something in visions, or they think it's useless to run, or they think they know how to survive what is coming. Or maybe all of the above. Malkavians are obviously not suicidal, but they see the world through a twisted view. Very hard to guess at their motives really
