Hi Craig, curious how would this compare to the driver 3.0 ? I'm a fan of surfing HPSB but want something with a bit of a more retro look idk 🤷♀️
@TheSurfboardGuide Жыл бұрын
No idea, don't really ride Lost boards anymore... This thing was fun, quite high performance, and has a retro outline/look. Maybe just grab this?

Great video! I’m looking at a blak box 3 and watched your review, which was great. However a mate told me about the pyzel phantom. If you have time could you please do a review on that. Thanks

Luca P hey! I’m keen to look at a few Pyzel’s, maybe the Shadow and Ghost... But a few people have mentioned the Phantom too.

Thoughts on this in terms of paddling and glide compared to the Album Twinsman?
@jasonshurtz2 жыл бұрын
Love my twinsman for paddling, glide and user friendly surfing, but maxes out and feels a bit skittish in bigger, powerful surf. Ordering one of these RR’s as a step up from my twinsman
@Stomperproductions2 жыл бұрын
@@jasonshurtz what wave size are you getting your RR for? (actual not oz/hawaiian)
@Stomperproductions2 жыл бұрын
@@jasonshurtz And do you know much comparing the twinsman to something like the Lost RNF 96 or Retro Tripper? Similar style?
@TheSurfboardGuide2 жыл бұрын
The Twinsman has a lot of foam under chest so it’s gonna paddle and glide really well. They do a rounded pin Twinsman and I saw some clips of Taj surfing one in bigger heavier barreling waves - might be worth checking out!
@hardt1153 жыл бұрын
Hey Craig, Can you compare between this and the og flyer? Which one is more user friendly and paddles better? Also, which one would be better in bigger waves? Thank you for any advice!
@TheSurfboardGuide3 жыл бұрын
Very diffrent boards - the Retro Ripper is almost like a step-up, so better for bigger/better waves.
@alht81015 жыл бұрын
Hi Craig! Very nice video, ans seems to be a cool board. Like the CI Peregrine, this board has a flat deck, do you think that it needs to be ordered thinner than normal dimensions? My go to is a stock puddle jumper hp (5’6/20/2.45). Many thanks! Cheers
@TheSurfboardGuide5 жыл бұрын
Hey! No, no need to order thinner as the full rail is part of the design. Probably stick to the stock dimensions if you can though to achieve your desired size/volume.

Hi! Are you gonna review the Pyzel Ghost? Noel from Surf&Show reviewed the Ghost, but it was in small waves. And I prefer your reviews anyway. Cheers

eppicuro hey! I’d be keen, especially after watching JJF last week in WA! It’d be maybe good to look at the Shadow and the Ghost as that’s what he seems to rotate between...

Is this board suitable for an intermediate? Would it be forgiving for the odd bit of dodgy technique?

Not sure - the rails on this aren’t super forgiving. It might be worth looking at something else…

Hey Craig, appreciate all ur reviews, very helpful. I was going to get a Sabotaj for slightly better NSW South Coast days until I saw this RR review. Which would be better for Head hi to head and a half long period swells, and which model would be better for fat or hollow conditions. Thx heaps from a 58yr old intermediate !

@TheSurfboardGuide5 жыл бұрын
Matt Hegarty I’ve got a Raging Bull and Bullseye in production at the moment... but I think the Raging Bull is more a bigger/older guys shortboard, where the Retro Ripper verges onto more of a step-up!

I've been looking into this board. i normally grovel with a full nose fish 5'10 x 20 1/4 x 2 1/2. bout 32 litres d be my guess. just looking for a sorta all rounder for when it starts to exceed 1-2 ft. you think a 6'2 or 6'3 in this model would suit? im 43 y/o n starting like the foam!! cheers Steve

[GXY] Mystical ツ thanks, stoked you enjoyed it! This is an all rounder, but aimed more at better and slightly bigger waves, 3ft+. Not sure about sizing for you, that’s a hard one, but always great if you can pick one or two of them up to feel them out!

I have 2 questions: 1. Are you gonna review the Rad Ripper? 2. How would you compare the F8's to AM2's? If you could only have one set which would it be if they both had 5 ride number
@TheSurfboardGuide5 жыл бұрын
Brandon Lane hey! I prefer the AM2’s across almost any conditions, but I like the F8’s generally when it’s a bit bigger and there’s some push, but AM2’s are great everywhere, and especially for generating speed! No Rad Ripper, I spoke to Noel at Surf & Show and he was gonna do it, so I decided on the Retro Ripper!

Brandon I ride the AM2 based on Craig's recommendation and they are epic fins. I noticed many of the pros ride them at Bells and at Margaret's. I have now ridden them in 1-2 foot mush to double overhead reeling point breaks. They just work. Besides fluro yellow in the large looks sweet too. Craig is on the money with this fin.

Have to say the board looked so sluggish. No spark.
@TheSurfboardGuide5 жыл бұрын
Chris Andrews hey! The waves were pretty lumpy and bumpy, and when they stood up the board went, but as you can see through those fuller sections it would get a bit stuck... I think the flat bottom and the vee likes to be on a more upright wave and doesn’t like those fat sections...
@dbo45062 жыл бұрын
Could more be because at 90kg 31L equates to 0.34 liters per kg of body weight which is very low so he just isn’t on enough foam. Most pros are at least on 0.35 to 0.36. Others like mason ho for example ride even more volume around the 0.37ish mark. This matters less in good clean steep waves. But when it comes to flat spots or not absolutely perfect waves volume becomes a much bigger factor.

I thought the same thing till I saw this clip of Taj on one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIfGlnSugtqGY7M Seemed like a rather jumbled day for the board to shine. Prob a bit frustrating by the looks of it.
