I have a friend who rides his rad ripper as an FCS quad, and at first, I thought his fin setup was a bit weird. The more I thought about it, the more sense it made. He was riding Mick fanning side fins with reactor quad rears. Heaps of drive and speed from the Mick fannings but still super loose and whippy with the reactor quad rears. When you next review a board, and want to try it in a quad setup, could you please try this fin setup to let us have your opinion on it? Thanks for the great reviews, ripping as always.

Thanks for the reviews and all your help in all the boards I asked about. I ended up getting a 6.0 34.75 L Rad Ripper. I'm close to 6.1 188lbs. It's about 3/4 more L than my shortboard. And I'm happy I did it's just perfect for what I want it for, none then stellar LA beach break 2-4ft. Only had it two short sessions in 2-4ft. When I'm positioned just right, it's fantastic. But I'm battling a little the same as you having me front foot to far forward. . But sure it will adjust. Also, for some odd reasonIs have started to slip off the board on a few waves taking off back side... Ha ha Never normally happen so odd :) Like when losing a golf swing :) anyone experienced that on a new board? Again I'm sure it will sort itself out once my footing has tightened up. Again thanks! Was running at as a quad large jjf and hs. Will try some thrusters, in the beach breaks.

Natural Born Reeler Tue RW is a Favorite of mine and the RR is not. I found the RR to be a little sticky when my feet were not in the sweet spot... I guess every board can be sticky or bogg when I’m not standing on the sweet spots but some boards can be more forgiving. With that being said... the RW is more forgiving, smoother rail to rail... so more flow on the RW, but the RR is faster and more radical.

Looks to me like the bogging/overpowering the nose is due to riding at too low volume. This board is meant to be ridden with some extra foam, hence the sharp down rail. At low volume the rail is too sensitive and easily overpowered. Go up a size or two and the board will perform better.

Noel, have you ever tried the Nubster fin with quad sets? Would love to hear your thoughts on it if you have ridden it before I pull the trigger on buying one.
@surfnshowreviews77775 жыл бұрын
Bobby Harmston Absolutely... the Nubster really helps with control on a Quad. Quads are really fast and offer good release and sometimes it’s herd to control that speed due to a little slide without that little center fin. Put in a Nubster and you have speed, control, and a tad more pivot with confidence. Nubsters are needed when the waves have a bit more speed and power, or if your riding a really wide tail board as a Quad and you want to control the slide or release.

I was looking at your Pyzel Shadow review and wanted to know how you would compare the Shadow to the RR? Was thinking the RR is more for small-med surf and that I should maybe be on something like the Shadow for hurricane/winter swell here which is typically the the 4-8ft range. I'm digging this major,… from the first turn and throughout! This Rad Ripper looks great,…. This and the White Noiz are my two favorite style-surfings of yours,… the board shape looks cool,… though I don't like the Lost/Mayhem name, the negativity.

looks and sounds just like a weirdo ripper to me........minus the swallow tail

CwALT Weirdo Ripper is epic but it has more rocker and needs a decent wave for it to shine. This RR goes good in 1-2’ surf. I have been telling Yadin Nicols and CI to redesign the Weirdo Ripper with less rocker... that board will go mental in 1-5’ surf. Cheers

@@surfnshowreviews7777 i loved my old franken weirdo, i got the board after it had been repaired a bunch and gained a ton of weight but was over volume for me at 30L my range is more 26-28. Im 5'11 155-160 and i push pretty hard off my back foot. The board worked so well for 1-5ft surf but obviously with that weight it was a more momentum based board or took a pretty punchy wave to get going but it was really responsive and had insane speed once it really got going or in the right conditions it just lit up. I was given it for free and gave it to a buddy of mine who id like to see progress on the conditions that i can still take it out. Definitely one of my favorite channel islands Ive surfed to date.
