Hey! With most of your jewellery do you melt the wax around the stone to create your setting? How do you keep your stone still on your ring mandrel and build up a good amount of wax? I’m using a max wax pen but it doesn’t hold much!

Do you let the flask cool down a bit from oven before casting the silver in? And how do you clean the rough up jewelry right after it’s casted? Thanks :)

I will have a full video on this soon but I pour the silver while the flask is super hot. Once I quench it, I pickle it in a solution of vinegar and salt that is in crock pot. Once the silver is cleaned I use different grits of sanding wheels to shine it up and set the stones. 💕

Once you cast, can you reuse that mold multiple times?

The wax mold is melted out in the kiln so it can't be reused. Hopefully soon I will learn how to make rubber molds of my work and inject them with wax so I can make quick copies. 💕

I have attempted it ONCE and burnt out my torch 😂 I just didn’t have one strong enough to melt the metal. I haven’t revisited it since BUT it is really interesting and I’d love to give it another shot 💜

KZbin will only allow 60s 🙈😂 the footage started at 24 min and I smooshed it down to 60s. There will be a KZbin video from this day that will be a lot more in depth 💜 for the paying off part, casting my own jewelry has been a huge goal of mine for a while now, so it’s already paid of 🥹💜. Practically though, in time the equipment will pay itself off with money that I will save in casting fees, up charges, time lost shipping back and forth and shipping cost back and forth 💜💜💜

Does it save a lot of time casting your jewellery versus making it all by hand?

It’s honestly a lot faster for me to fabricate by hand, but for me it’s about the style I’m able to achieve with wax carving that makes me do it 💜

very cool doing in small shop. .doing your own casting is very satisfying. I recently switched to ransom and ransom investment. . very low dust.. also. .you may want to check on different adapter plate on your vac chamber. you can use smaller flasks. .save $ on investment. excited to see your journey!

Nice! Outstanding handmade craftsmanship also. I love the vintage vibe that sun of your pieces put off. That's the element of making your own casts by hand instead of using cad and a 3d printer. However u could increase your output and I'm sure you know this already by investing in the software and 3d printer. The software is obnoxiously expensive but the return you would get back from it is huge since you're pouring your own stuff. You really just created more business opportunities for yourself. Even if u don't wanna design buy the small printer for 100 bucks and ppl will email their cad files to be printed and casted. If I were gonna choose a business to do now in life I would do a jewelry business instead of fashion, so many opportunities to earn in different areas of business. Anyway u do great work and work hard also and it shows.
