Great engineering skill used to repair and restore this old lock. Fantastic job so well done. As to the debris inside it's a bit of a mystery!

Une restauration longue et minutieuse pour un antique cadenas qui le méritait bien. La manière dont vous fabriquez une clef qui s'ajuste au cadenas est tout à fait remarquable. Bravo !

Beautiful, I have a lock like this that was dug up from the yard, cool to see it restored

was anyone else a little worried that some of that rust/debris had formally been parts of the lock itself?

This was so cool! And making the key too!! I work for a self storage company and I love the line about communication. I get people all the time that can’t remember their key or their code for the gate.🤗

Loved the entire video. It was an amazing transformation. Couldn't believe that it could be brought back to life. Two questions though: Why did you a glass surface during the sanding process instead of a normal surface? And Why you didn't paint the inside of the lock? Wouldn't that have given it more life from the inside. Amazing video no matter what.

So what’s the stuff inside the lock? Is it all rust or is it like some combination of dirt dust and other gunk. I may not know a lot about how rust works but I can’t imagine that rust alone would be able to expand to fill the whole volume of the lock

Must have been used outdoors in a tropical/subtropical climate, or at least somewhere close to the beach. That also explains the outrageous amount of rust (humidity corrosion)
