I love this song but please don’t think he only has sad songs! He was a genius composer. He has all kinds of songs all of them showing what kind of person he is, thoughtful, aware, sometimes struggling but also happy and he even has songs with silly and lighthearted lyrics! He had many emotions and he used his music to portray them, that’s probably why he really, no matter if solo or in SHINee, has such a wide and unmatched discography. His beautiful personality really shines through his music and it’s so much more than that tragedy

hoya+ I had never heard of the guy till recently and sad though I was to learn of his passing, I was too distracted by how good a singer he was and how clever and inventive and listenable his music is. I don’t know whether it was a great ear for other musical styles or if he was a sponge for different musical influences, but I love his rhythmic sense, his harmonies, his flair for variation within the song, and of course, his voice. But he was also a great cover singer with his renditions of songs like Yoo jae ha’s “Gloomy Letter” and Alla Pugacheva’s “Million Roses” and of course, this song, Alejandro Sanz’ “And if it were her?”

What astonishes me about this performance is that he is so physical throughout - almost constantly moving - yet he never loses vocal control of the song or his interpretation. And although he begins the song in a very breathy manner, he quickly escalates it into long melodic lines such that it looks as if he's singing on just one intake of air. Amazing.

I was amazed when he sang this song, his vocal for this song was unbelievable. I loved the Jonghyun's version of "Y si fuera ella" As a Latin I love this song and the singer as well (You should listen to the original version Alejandro Sanz, he's an Spanish singer). Whenever I watch this performance I can't stop thinking of the ironic twist of this live performance. I don't know but it makes me cry one more time.

This song is by Alejandro Sanz, a Spanish singer who made his debut in our country more than 30 years ago. This song was released on Alejandro's album "Mas" in 1997 and is one of his great successes. This version of Shinee sung by JONGHYUN seems impressive to me and it is very sad that this great singer is no longer among us. Alejandro Sanz is a complex composer who plays with phrases. Our Spanish language is very rich and I understand that they had to adapt a new letter since this version has nothing to do with the real one and the translation is quite complex. Kim Jonghyun never ever did well. He did perfection always. He is the only singer who overwhelmed me with his stunning vocal range. He was an incredible song writer. We lost an incredible man. His radio shows his live feeds where he was so unafraid to talk to us truthfully. My children know of him and so will my grandchildren and I hope they will continue to share his music with every generation.

This song was written by the Spanish Alejandro Sanz, their manager was a fan when that song came out and he wanted to do it in Korean so he asked Sanz for the rights, the thing is that it is too hard to translate from Spanish to Korean, the original is a poem of how everything reminds you of the woman you love, Kenzie wrote this version and they gave it to Jonghyun who was 19 at the time, he did a great job, but me personally I love the original for what it is... Not that this one isn't amazing...

Thank you for this reaction. Jonghyun was an emotionally sensitive soul to which he always projects at each and every performance either by himself or with the Shinee members. This became his strength during his days as a musician and made us love him even more. His driving force of strength on each live shows are up there at the kpop world hall of fame. Big Bang (and especially GDragon solos), Shinee, CL, Mamamoo, IU, Yoonmirae (I love it), just to talk about the Asian world, fill my play list alongside a lot of progressive rock, a lot of classical music, a lot of grunge from the decade 90s and lots of Brazilian popular music. This is really a sad one to start off with...because it's so emotional but a lot of Jonghyun's songs speak to what he was feeling which made him an even better artist. But if you are looking for something a bit more upbeat I'd try "She is" and I feel like you guys would absolutely love Shinee's 1 of 1! It's a fun song with kind of a retro vibe which is matched in the MV.

I always tear up listening to this version. This was recorded for SHINes' first album. He was 18. What a responsibility to debut on the album with such a powerful solo. So he's been singing the song for 9+ years. As you listen to more of Shinees music, it's hard not to ID his voice. I miss him much 😩
