@@emersonlake9302 It's not that interesting considering they just copy pasted motifs from both of those past albums. The chromatic harmonics and riffing, the bright tones from songs like Stranded, the fills from songs like The Heaviest Matter of the Universe. Try this. Relocate your microphones (right now they are at opposite ends of the table, unnatural for face to face conversation). Put "both" mics near the "center" and you will then be facing each other when you talk into the mic. (more natural setup.) - - Right now you have to look away from each other to talk into the mic. This does not work for George's voice as it often gets lost. Ryan's is loud and clear. I hope you try it and like it. 😎👍

They really are so good live. They always seem so appreciative that people bothered to come out and see them, too. It's great. Haha first time I saw em was just after Magma came out. They hit a local festival with groups like Mastodon and Stone Sour playing before and after em, but the energy when they played was up there with the others hands down. There was a mix of younger peeps like me who knew em/loved em and "older" folks who'd never heard of em and after their first song(think they opened with Silvera), this old dude next to me was like "woah these guys are good!" I thought it was pretty bland actually, I like gojira but theres not really anything in this song I havent heard from 10 other bands, if you dont listen to much metal then I could see how you could like it, I think gojira are quite accessible in that way.
@Weestinn
@Weestinn 3 жыл бұрын
@@John.AR.Activism I actually listen to a ton of metal and have been going through a huge metalcore/deathcore phase over the past few months. I agree that the song is a little basic and the riffs are pretty simple but imo that doesn't make it bad at all. I actually had your same point of view on first listen, but after that I realized how well all of the sections flow together, and how they make the song unique. (harmonic riff, simple but boppin riff, heavy riff, ambient section, breakdown).
@semaj_5022
@semaj_5022 3 жыл бұрын
@@John.AR.Activism I would appreciate a list of those 10 other bands. I'm dead serious. If there's that many bands out there making music that sounds like this is love to hear it. Cause I listen to a ton of metal and have for over a decade and this sounded pretty much just like Gojira to me. And they do attract a few non-metal fans, but most of their fans are still metal heads. So I don't think that's really the case. Remember that complex doesn't mean it's good and more simple doesn't mean it's bad. But music is up to the individual to like or dislike.

The vocal effects are reverb (gives a sound like he's singing in a big hall but can also change depending on setting to say a small room), delay, so an echo, and multiple layers of the same voice singing the same line

Every band has their influences. It's about putting your own unique twist on it. Joe Duplantier's vocals are a lot different to Phil Anselmo's or Max Cavalera's. The harmonic intro to that Sepultura song bears some similarities, but the drum beat is completely different, whereas the drum intro to the Pantera song is similar but the guitars are completely different. After the intro, the song is completely different to them both though, especially during the chorus with the reverb-soaked cleaner vocals. If you can't appreciate the fact that almost every band on the planet takes influences from elsewhere, then you're just being unnecessarily harsh for the sake of it.

The vocals are so deep with meaningful lyrics that really make me think eloquent thoughts.Light Spring rains and young romance.The tender yet hard rhythm guitars with the remotely hidden lead two notes solos. Thinking back I could play this after graduation from the Berkley school of music. The vocalist is obviously trained in the fine arts of opera. This music would be great with weight training on steroids.

If you guys want something crazy to react to while you're waiting for that Gojira album, you should check out the band Cult Of Luna. I think they have the potential to become the next big band of the channel in the same way Tool, Opeth and Gojira are. A lot of their songs include buildups, lots of groove and some pretty wild transitions. Their songs Nightwalkers and In Awe Of would be a good place to start, Ghost Trail would be a great reaction too but it's a bit more on the mellow side.
