Where George says "sounds like Hendrix"...that chord is the 7sharp9, also known at the Hendrix Chord! Good ear, George!
@helmedon2 жыл бұрын
I was going to say the same thing. There's a reason why people say so and so sounds like Hendrix. It's because he invented an entirely unique sound. Not only with his overdriven amps and style, but he was plating things others simply hadn't though of yet. I love throwing that "Hendrix chord" in blues riff now and then to add some dirt to the groove. That and a fast vibrato, string bending mania.

Man, what a great time that was. This sing reminds me of one of the most exciting times, musically, of my life. Still seeing the same friends i went to them concerts with. Rob is a huge movie and anime fanatic. Dialogue excerpts and sound effects from all kinds of shows and movies are just his thing, and it occurs all throughout (almost) every album in his career. And yes those elements were even done live, but there was more to it with live videos on screens giving the audience a reference point if they didn't know the source material. But the songs were also longer live as well, at least back then. Also when Rob went solo and White Zombie ended after the tour of Astro Creep 2000, there's more of an infusion of electronics and samples as well as dialogue and sound effects! Definitely any song from La Sexorcisto is a gem! Can't go wrong with any of them. They were considered "alternative metal" when this came out -- the riffs were heavy but catchy, and wouldn't have been out of place alongside Motley Crue's "Dr. Feelgood"; the sampling (and, later, keyboards) pointed toward industrial metal, but their whole schtick seemed to reach back toward the analog past; Rob's lyrics frequently reference everything which the PMRC slapped warning labels on metal records for... but it was all done with tongue firmly planted in cheek. It's a real shame this band didn't continue after 98 when Rob came out with his first solo record. Him and the band don't get along, and if you hear his side of the story combined with the revolver interview for the 25th anniversary for this record with the band, it seems Rob was just done. Touring extensively took a toll on this bands relationship. Love their music way more than Robs solo work.

I think it comes down to he and Seana dated for years. When they broke up he was stuck in a band with his girlfriend. I think J was much closer to her then Rob so that caused the fall out between them

Speaking as one of them, I'd say this was for metal kids who went to raves but ok

The riffs on this album are incredible. No overly complicated but they just flow and are raw power.

Imagine how novel this sounded after a decade of hair metal.

Seriously. I'd throw Ministry out there as another band that was a paradigm shift from the glittery excess of the hair metal era.

I never really understand comments like this. There were plenty of bands who weren't the glam bands: Jane's addiction, Corrosion of conformity, Nine inch nails, Faith no more, The Pixies, Danzig, U2, REM, Suicidal tendencies, the thrash bands.

@@maynarddrivesfast804 Jesus DID build my hot rod! But I only heard Ministry because I had one friend in high school whose dad worked at a radio station, and he got all the stuff they were sent, but wouldn’t play on the radio.

@@MrOctober44 Perhaps, but in my rural part of the South, we went from Guns N’ Roses to Nirvana on the radio, and there was nothing in between. And that was the only non-country music on the air. MTV was already turning into a joke, and there was no internet.

You hit the nail on the head about borderline/mixed genres. It’s interesting but not often mainstream, it is certainly an acquired taste and you either love it or hate it.

Considering I graduated in '91, this is classic! I remember jamming out to this when it came out.

I love your channel! I started doing a music tournament channel earlier this year and our next band is White Zombie, so it was super cool to see one of my favorite reaction channels give me a preview. Right now we're doing The Beatles and The Unicorns with White Zombie starting in about a week. We just finished up a Butthole Surfers tournament and I'd highly recommend them for your channel, if you haven't reacted to any yet. "Pepper" is an obvious go-to, but I found myself loving their insane 80s stuff best.

Never saw White Zombie but when Rob first started his solo career I saw him perform this with Kerry King from Slayer on guitar. That riff was extra crunchy that night.

Had not been exposed to White Zombie until I saw them open for Megadeth in 1992. As sometimes happens with new opening acts, very few in the crowd were paying attention. Rob jumped out into the stadium and rocked all the way up the stairs and pulled everyone into the show. Been a fan ever since.

Rob zombie is a huge horror film fan so he likes to add that in his music his albums yes he does this live in concerts and now he writes horror films in Hollywood and make soundtracks.
