Shit even rappers without battle rap backgrounds, so minus the king los's of the game. There's still lupe, royce, jid, mick jenkins, and so forth. Didn't even mention eminem because I'd rather avoid that annoying cringe debate. Now if lil wayne actually wrote hit lyrics down instead of the method of making music he does use. He'd likely truly be up there. Also lil wayne has a habit of releasing projects with 50 percent mid , 25 percent just bad, and 25 percent unfucking believably fire. Atleast if we're counting everything past Carter 4. But that inconsistency can't just not be mentioned. But even peak wayne. The best wayne verse doesn't stand up to the best royce, lupe, mick jenkins, jid verses. Nor does it compare to the technical display of battle rappers like king los, black thought , loaded lux, and so forth. Lil wayne may be in my top 10 favorite rappers to listen to. But I'd be super ignorant to the rap scene to claim he's a top 5 rapper to ever spit. Even top 10 is debatable.
