He really was talented, it’s just that looking at WHY he did those horrible things, it reinforces my theory that the most gifted among us are at least a little bit psychotic. And while I don’t think that drugs alone caused him to do those horrible things, I do think that the drug addiction (when combined with the sex addiction and ignorance of what HEALTHY BDSM looks like (given that from what I can tell Watkins started out as just into really kinky sex and then spiraled out of control)) was probably the “straw that broke the camel’s back” if you will. Really I think that high schools and colleges SHOULD, in addition to offering general sex ed, offer optional classes on BDSM and how to engage in it in a healthy, non-abusive way for anyone interested-specifically to prevent situations like this. And I also think that laws surrounding alcohol and some drugs (specifically “magic mushrooms”) should be changed so that people can be trained from young ages to consume them, but ONLY in moderation and under parental supervision-this is to basically prevent addiction.

It's staggering deception and abuse of power. It's a spectacular fall from grace in any case, the rest of the band had another go at it after his conviction with No Devotion, with very little mainstream success. It's weird to see people calling the filming of child abuse as porn. Having sex with children isn't porn, in the same way most porn is online, which is usually exhibitionist amateur couples both agreeing to be filmed. Filming the abuse of children is filming a crime scene and nothing to do with porn.
@sammiller670011 жыл бұрын
the definition of pornography is 'printed or visual material containing the explicit description or display of sexual organs or activity, intended to stimulate sexual excitement', and I argue, the paedophile records their activities for the sole purpose of re-watching it later for the precise reason of stimulating sexual excitement. Just because normal people find it abhorrent, it doesn't mean it doesn't fit that category.

Earlier this week, we learned that the allegations of child sexual abuse against Ian were true, and that he would not be contesting them in court. Until then, we found them extremely difficult to believe and had hoped it was all a mistake. Sadly, the true extent of his appalling behaviour is now impossible to deny. Many of you understandably want to know if we knew what Ian was doing. To be clear: We did not. We knew that Ian was a difficult character. Our personal relationships with him had deteriorated in recent years to a point that working together was a constant, miserable challenge. But despite his battles with drugs, his egotistic behaviour, and the resulting fractures and frustrations within our band, we never imagined him capable of behaviour of the type he has now admitted. We are heartbroken, angry, and disgusted at what has been revealed. This is something that will haunt us for the rest of our lives. Being in a band has always been a labour of love and a platform to inspire people, not to take advantage of them. It’s still hard to believe this is happening and that someone we were once so close to has destroyed so many lives, lying every step of the way. Our hearts go out to Ian’s family, the fans and friends he betrayed, and most importantly, the victims of his crimes and others like them. We hope for justice, but also that Ian will truly take responsibility for what he’s done. We would urge any other victims to contact the authorities. Jamie, Lee, Luke, Mike and Stu

His band mates MUST of suspected something. Some of the acts he took part in happened in hotel room which I'm pretty sure the rest of the band members were staying in and they share a tour bus. Never heard of this dude before... only stumbled upon this video during media controversy, but have to say... I feel really sad for his mother who had been recovering from an illness...to find out that her famous son had committed such heinous crimes against children must break her heart. I met Ian Watkins many, many years ago immediately following a Lostprophets performance at the Tunbridge Wells Forum when they were an up and coming band. Ian and the other band members mingled after their performance. My girlfriend at the time wanted me to ask him to sign her gig ticket. I asked him but I was too embarrassed to say the autograph was for my girlfriend and so I said it was for my sister who couldn't make it to the show. He was very cool about it and seemed a funny, down to earth and likeable guy.

Psychopaths, especially sadistic rapists/pedophiles…can’t be rehabilitated. Death penalty is warranted…and it would save us tax dollars.
@gvs6462 Жыл бұрын
I think, in the scope of delivering justice to its fullest extent, death penalty is too easy of a way out for sick monsters like Watkins. Flagrant and blatant cases like this one should give green light to invest tax dollars into a dehumanization program that allows justice and social morality to be thrown out of the window and allow for something worse than death penalty. Ideally, something that inflicts permanent mental and physical decay over multiple decades with no end in sight. That is what a POS like Watkins deserves. If not in this life, then perhaps in the next. Either way, his soul should not be allowed to find peace in any way shape or form. His life doesn’t deserve closure whatsoever.
@gb_120 Жыл бұрын
@@gvs6462 A Part of me is down for that. But a “humane” death feels morally correct for me. I don’t believe in torturing others. Not trying to get down to their level…just get rid of them. Plus it’s just more money wasted again. He may be getting assaulted, wherever he’s at by other criminals right about now anyway. Who knows. But I’m getting into Christianity more nowadays…so feel like God will handle people like him regardless.

Joanna Majic who blew the whistle on him has made comments on Chris Spivey's website saying that she warned his family, band mates and their partners back in 2008 and they dismissed her as a crazed fan. Given that and the fact he was quite open about it I suspect they had more than a hunch. The idea they would sue for libel is laughable. They would know there was an extremely strong possibility they would lose the case which would mean it was made a matter of public record that they did know. Believe me, there is not a cat in jells chance that you will see a lostprophet sue over this. They know the evidence they were warned is out there.
