I really appreciate you sharing not only what worked with us, but also the things you did that didn't work out so well and walking us through your problem solving process! It was really interesting to see how you engaged with and solved problems and also how you kind of go about making these things. Of course maybe it had more to do with you having the footage and needing to explain what you were doing but either way I appreciated it!

Yeah, I think that's a really important part of making anything- being able to work around problems and learn from them. I typically try to make all my mistakes before I film the final footage, but this was a nice experiment, and I think I will do more like it in the future.

I absolutely LOVE these videos, Chris! The weathering paint technique you use for aging this helmet is pretty much the same thing I did for my Jason X hockey mask a few years ago, works like a charm.

Hello, I just want to say thank you. I watched your video and decided to go to this heros and villians hen party as an x-wing pilot. I've enjoyed painting the helmet immensely and I would never have thought to make the thing out of foam without your video so thanks!

Loved this, thank you. It’s really helpful that you leave in what does not work as well as what does. Saves us making those mistakes! Lol. Turned out really nice. Can’t wait to make my own.

Outstanding. I love the weathering. Thanks for sharing your tips! I especially like the simple effect for scratches/scrapes.

Thanks for making these videos. They are very informative; and I love that you have fun making them; which then makes them funny to watch. Keep up the great work. All the way from New Zealand.

Really cool project! And here's another solution to your paint problem: Always remove masking tape when the paint is wet! Sure, you found paints that adhere better to each other later on, but you may not always be that lucky. removing tape when paint is wet is a rule I found very useful to follow. I hope this was useful :)

I loved watching this, been wanting to finish a helmet I am making but waiting for spring to paint it... love your videos, keep up the great work!

I use that same matte varnish for painting D&D minatures, and I've had the exact same problem where it would sometimes remove the paint/ink that I was trying to protect. The best solution I've found is to use a spray/airbrush gloss varnish as the first coat, and then follow that with the matte varnish after it's dry.

This is awesome. You're work is amazing as always. I love how you did the wear and tear on the helmet. As of writing this comment, I'm finishing the steampunk mechanical arm pattern you released a couple videos back. It's turning out quite nicely. If you're looking for ideas on what to make a pattern for next, how about some chest armor? Maybe to go with that knight's helmet? Or have you got an agenda already set for the next few months?

Loved the build and paint job. FYI you should look into the vinal pin striping rolls that they use on vehicles. It is real thin, easy to make complex curves with, sticks really well and best of all it comes in a wide range of colours. If I were you I would ask at an auto body shop for where they get the kind they use because they probably have suggestions as to what brands are better and ones to steer clear of. Again, love the videos and (from the beginning of the build video) who says a Jedi can't dance??:)

Great work, its apreciated. I love your chanell . And i am learning a lot. How about another project , lets say a helmet , but using the 3d printer tech. It will be great and i am sure the finishing touch will be great. Thanks

🤣🤣 paint the thing on the thing. The front thing. And... What is that? A cooling duct? 🤣 You're hilarious. So many strips of tape! 😲 Sorry you painted it with the wrong tape in the beginning. I hate when that happens because you spent a bunch of time trying to fix it. Love what it looks like after distressing 😍

In stead of electrical tape why not use the sheet they wrap cars with . I saw a guy with what I thought was a custom paint job ( flags going around his helmet ) on his helmet but it was all wrap that was off cuts from a local wrapping company , you can get it around curves and the like .

So, Luke was out playing basketball without a basketball - and decided to use his helmet as a basketball - but then it got stuck in the basket - and when he climbed up to get it out- it was really stuck and it came out in pieces - so Luke needed to get a new helmet - and thats why my Luke Skywalker - helmet looks brand new.. =)

Wow, that helmet must have been stuck really good!
