My cousin made an Indiana Jones cosplay literally just 3 weeks ago and the only thing he didn’t have was a whip, I just shared this video with him and he’s very impressed that you thought to use duct tape.

Fantastic! Not only is the prop very impressive, (I can't believe you got the crack effect to work on duct tape) but your self control to only reference Devo once was equally amazing.

I have absolutely NO Use for this build, and yet I want to make one. Great Video! You always make them so easy looking and your instructions so incremental. That is much appreciated.

Very nice look and good cracking. I would recommend adding a gutted 550 cord lace filled with BB’s to give it more weight and better functionality

When I was making the handle for my Qrow sword costume, I used a similar technique! If you prepare the duck tape strips a little differently they'll never unravel. Instead of doing one long strip you do each one individually. Start with a strip the size and cut in the shape you want. Put another strip on the non-sticky side and trim the edges close to the first stip. You want it far enough away to fold over but not so far as to cover all of the sticky side of the first strip. Fold the edges of the second strip over the first and you're good to go! This will make it easier to braid because the edges will slide over each other and stay in place once you press them down. You also don't get those white outlines on the edges!

That makes sense, a bit more work, but it would give a nice result! Thanks for sharing the idea!

Chris how are your videos so vivid. Watching your videos is like watching an actual movie. My kids STILL! play with the Jack Sparrow guns, its been 4 years. Im also proud to say with your videos, those bad boys are still in one piece. Except the trigger. Lol. I fixed it twice and said thats it. 😅 Plus working on those guns I realized how much I missed making things. So I have continued to make, and fix and referbish. I owe this to you, Thank You.

Awww, wow, thanks so much for taking the time to share this with me. Funny, the more I do this, the more I realize how good it is for our souls when we use our hands and create -and there are so many different ways to do that. I love hearing that you are choosing to make it a part of your life. Take care and keep making:)

Nice one Chris! Your whip really looks the part and I was very impressed with the cracks you’re able to produce. It was good to have the speed warning for the tip (just in case of detachment), people forget the whip was the first supersonic weapon.

If you punch a hole in the leather you can run the fall through the hole you made and through itself it will tighten down and not fall off

This looks like a cool and fun project however, if I may add, that if you want to "CRACK" your whip you should check with your local laws on that subject. Here in the county I live in, in the state of Nevada, USA a law was just recently passed that it is now against the law to crack a whip within the city limits. Thank you for sharing this video. As always, I get a kick out of them and, I'll be watching for the next one.

Fun fact: The "crack" of a whip is actually a small sonic boom. This man just made an item that can break the sound barrier out of string, duct tape, and a PVC pipe.

Absolutely no hate intended to this tutorial, but that was kinda my first thought too. I mean, there was an awful lot of time and effort put into this project, so if you're gonna do that much work anyway, why not get some leather and do it properly?

Nope, not China, but not the U.S. either. I've used both systems, and for some things, especially small measurements, the metric system wins hands down, but it really depends what you are used to.
