I think discontinuing the W900 will prove to be one of the worst decisions Kenworth (PACCAR) has ever made. Just like SteenSorensen, the W990 will not replace the W900! :-(

Thanks for posting this Andy ! It’s been a bit tense out here in BC to say the least . Guys being told their already ordered TriDrive logging truck will show up with an automatic. Yah right , that’ll be the day ! Most guys planned to hang onto their trucks & just cancel orders. Local Inland dealership will never sell a logging truck again. Very sad and not their fault of course . The Canadian government needs to get in touch with reality ! Always enjoy the videos!

I dont believe for 1 minute that the order list for w9s is as low as kenworth is leeding us to believe. As a guy that just spent 340g on a w900l ill say this. Being on a waiting list for almost 2 years to even get to order a factory specd truck and being told im 150 orders away from the opportunity says it all. Sure there was parts delay issues through covid. Sure dealerships didnt and still dont have on lot stock , but where did all these people on the list go.? And thats just one dealership with that particular list. I see this as a bigger picture... Push the 990 as the new flagship truck... If we build it, they will buy it More supporting evidence of this was and is dealership alotment control of w900 production and distribution Does the alotment control contribute to the suggestive low order numbers we are being told is the factor of its future? Sure numbers will be low , dealerships are and were only projected to recieve 20% ( my figure may be wrong) of trucks as w900s..... Why..... Automatic transmissions may be a bit more fuel economic , but ill tell yea one thing , they arent as safe as a manual, especially on winter roads. So tell me are we worried about fuel consumption or safety 1st?

Lots of people saying they won't be buying if KW discontinues the W9, but clearly they already aren't buying. A company has to have some sales volume if they want to keep making a product. I'm not happy about it either but it's the same situation as manuals in cars, enthusiasts can complain about it all day but if no one buys them what do you expect the manufacturers to do?

1 question, is the transmission option dealer proprietary selective to you guys at inland only? The video was suggestive that only inland dealerships will be working without restrictions? Can you speak to this for us all wondering?

I love the W900 but I hate that they’re deciding to discontinue producing those because in my opinion, the W990 looks ugly and is not good enough in my opinion to replace the Kenworth W900 . By this decision, I would guess that the sale of new Kenworth trucks will go down severely even though I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will with the discontinued Kenworth W900 ☹️

Thank you for the input Andy. Just one question and thought. Why make new models instead of try to make better the one is out in the market? Like w900 bringing the w990 !! The day kenworth eliminates w900 they are going to find out how important was this legend.

Thanks for posting the update Andy. I won't miss the W900. It's an antiquated anachronism. The cab is too noisy, it's poorly insulated and the aerodynamics are ridiculous. The T880 cab is definitely less manly but it is way nicer to drive than a W900 and it won't give the driver permanent hearing loss if it's properly insulated. I understand the need for manual transmissions in some logging applications with limited power but for highway driving I'll take an automated transmission any day.

A little sound deadening went a long way in my old T800, much quieter now than the T880 I rode in a while ago. I do like the T880s too but it really comes down to just having some insulation, not how new the cab design is. Aerodynamics aren't great on the old cabs true, but that doesn't matter much for a lot of vocational/heavy haul trucks.

Had a T880 in logging what a rattly piece of crap. Couldn't even have a phone conversation going down the road it was so bad. We have 2015 and 2016 W900s logging and they still have tight interiors.

@@averyw.3939 Indeed, one can take the inside of the cab and sleeper down to bare metal, put on some Dynamat and thermal/sound insulation, etc and seal some of the holes in the firewall. However, it would be nice if Paccar and other US truck manufacturers did that at the factory. A Scania tractor with a giant, noisy 750 hp V8 has sound-deadening and insulation from the factory that makes it way quieter than any Kenworth. I cannot hear the sounds of my own screams in a new W900. Never mind the cold in the cab on the North Klondike Highway in January. Long pants necessary!
