2 years after this video and it's still very relevant and helpful. I just built my first ever PC with windows 10 and was getting so frustrated and sad thinking it wouldn't run my game because of the direct x runtime crashes. I followed your video and installed what you recommended and now it works like an absolute charm! And prettier than I ever was able to experience before. Thank you so much!

THANK YOU! I bought my new laptop in September of 2019, specifically to play Lotro and Eso online and I couldn't get on Lotro. Dang thing would crash as with so many others, as soon as I tried to enter a world. After trying about ten items noted on the lotro site - which included un and re installing over and over with probably 30 - 40 hours worth of that nonsense,, I found this video. While it still took a few hours to install the game, your instruction were clear and precise and your links active and functional. i am back in Middle Earth again and very grateful. Once more, thank you so much!

So question -- I downloaded the game before I knew to do any of this. I alt-tabbed out and got this error: Could not initialize Direct 3D. Please ensure that DirectX 9.0c [Dec 2005] or higher is installed. [105] Then I am told that the game encountered a fatal error. I am on Windows 11. I uninstalled the game. I tried following the steps by reinstalling the game, but it looks like I didn't have Akami NetSession Interface to even delete in the first place even after the installation. Before I uninstalled the game I could at least play it as long as I didn't tab out - now I can't even get the game to open - it just keeps giving me this error.

i did everything but when i start the game after logging in, the screen never loads, itstead it keeps loading and the game never actually starts after picking my sever and hitting start, any idea what i should do ?

I know this is old but I’m stumped when I first did it I got 0xfffffffff870057 when I deleted the datx files it got me to world select then it said could not find data files I’m stuck any help

I know this is really old, but I am still hoping someone can help me. I have tried all of the above, but I am getting error "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). I have re-installed several times. I have tried the Steam version, but getting the same error. Tried contacting support, but so far no help. I am running: an AsRock motherboard X670E Pro RS, Ryzen 7800X3d, Windows 11, Nvidia 3070. I don't know if there is some weird compatibility issue with any of my hardware or something. Or if the install is just not able to find something it needs to run. Please help.

Gee, I'd really love to play this game, but every time I hit play after selecting server, it brings me to a black loading screen that is IMPOSSIBLE to exit out of. Ctrl+alt+delete doesn't work, neither does holding alt+tab. It just won't close, forcing me to restert pc every time. I watched your videos, and unfortunately the problem is persisting. Time to give up. Even the install on steam doesn't work. I swear, I've had nothing but problems after installing WIndows 11.

I know this is a bit old but my lotro disconnects every time AFTER I select enter world. I tried everything and technical support cant fix it either. Any idea?

Does this work for windows 11? I am at my wits end with trying to get this game to work. Either have to do a repair and/or restart my entire pc each time i would want to play and in any other time the game immediately reverts back to not working. SMH I wish I could just play the game in peace...

Thanks, was finally able to run this game! But after 5-10 minutes of play LoTRO just crashes for no reason... Do you know what that might be for?

agreed, out of all the games I have played, none of them, absolutlely NONE of them, ever needed extra requirements of downloading Microsoft packs, absolutely retarded on what already a complicated game is forcing you to do.

i downloaded the game. I did the installations and settings you suggested. I also repaired the program. After login. I have this message.(Game Error[201] Cant open the data files. Check that they exist and that you have permission to write to them. The program will now exit.[201]] Any suggestion? Additional information. I play the game with win 8.1. I just got new PC with win 10 and find it a little funny.

@@couldawa7114 do the settings from the video. But you must remove the lotro first. The problem with the win10 they don't install directX. try and if you have the same problem i will try to see again if i forgot something
