While the A340-600 is considered inefficient these days, they are comfortable. I recently flew ORD - MCH and back two weeks later on Lufthansa . When the tickets were bought in Dec 22, we were supposed to be on an A350 from ORD to MCH and a B787 from MCH to ORD. They had brought the A340's out of storage and used them on both flights. I still enjoyed them, even though I was looking forward to the newer models

In the EU a foreign EU airline can operate domestic flights in other countries. For example Ryanair once operated flights between Rome and Milan. Irish airline operating domestic flights in Italy

They needed to replace the aging A340-300's soon. Those planes may end up at Edelweiss, the Swiss leisure flight carrier.

I agree. They have already started to replace the A343's with B789. While I agree that the A343's needed a replacement due to their age, the choice of B789 instead of more A350's they already operate it's hard to understand. The argument was that there were not enough passengers to fill an A350. However,all the LH flights I took from North America to Europe were jam-packed if not even overbooked.

@@cristianboldisor1175 I believe the Lufthansa flights to Europe from North America will use the 747-8I, plus possibly the A380 on certain routes. Lufthansa likely plans to assign the upcoming 777-9 to these routes.

@@cristianboldisor1175 Actually they have 32 A350s incoming, 28 on order. Lufthansa are not 1-1 replacing aircraft, they are using incoming aircraft to replace the oldest in their fleet and the 787s are the ones coming first. It is widely accepted that the 787-9 and A350-900 will replace the A340-300, 600 (a few) and A330-300 frames (some of which will go to Eurowings Discover to replace older aircraft there). There are rumours that incoming A350-900s will be stationed in FRA but just take them as rumours at this stage. The A350-1000 will replace the A340-600 and 777X, the A380 and 747-400.

USA budget airlines roundup would be cool. Aligient, Spirit, and frontier. There's been a lot of acquisition and regulation blocking talks at in budget airline sector, and a lot of people don't consider Jet Blue and others quite as "budget airline" as they like to market themselves.

When you say fully take over ITA do you mean that they will slap the Lufthansa livery on or they would just join the group. Im pretty sure you meant they would be a part of the group but I’m just worried we’ll lose the beautiful blue livery!

Thanks for the video I hope they keep flying the B747-8 and A-380 for a while My only grudge is if they could make the seats on the 747 more comfortable in economy Flew last year and really very uncomfortable

One of the problems at LH is the unions. They prevent the company from adapting to the more dynamic market situations of today. Don't get me wrong, the unions have done a lot of good things for their members. But, you always have to take into consideration today's conditions where there is a strong pressure from low-cost carriers on short haul flights. When you offer a near low cost experience on short haul flights while your price is double of the one you would pay for a budget airliner, no wonder you start having problems selling.

@@machintrucGaming Well due the unions, LH has to give a certain level of benefits to the employees. This is well above what they would get if they work for let's say Ryan or Wizz.It's not just LH who's facing this kind of issue but many other unionized airliners. When you have to pay much higher benefits to your employees than the rest of the industry it's hard to have a price match with your competitors.

French president Macron wants to stop all flights to cities served by a train in less than 2.5 hours. That would include London - Paris/ Brussels, Paris - Brussels. Brussels - Frankfurt, Brussels - Amsterdam. But then the EU presidents have private jets available.
