I love the scene between V and Delia. There was a sort of mutual respect. And her death was unique because a) V did not want her to suffer (unlike the others), and b) she *wanted* to die. It was more a mercy than a punishment. It was an oddly touching scene.

This is an important movie, more than mere entertainment. And it came out just a couple of years after 9/11 so it was very brave to have an anti-hero blowing up buildings. It leaves it up to the viewer to decide if V is a terrorist or freedom fighter. I watch this every Nov. 5th which is Guy Fawkes Day.

Also this film is set in the year 2020 and has a subplot involving the two Policemen investigating a manufactured pandemic, corrupt scientists and politicians using the pandemic to usher in an already made cure to provide the excuse to bring in an authoritarian government system ....... ring a bell ? .

The movie made V out to be the hero. The graphic novel made him far more villainous and left it far more ambiguous as to whether he was truly any better than Chancelor Susan and Norsefire.

That scene of V "fighting" with the suit of armor is SO good. (yet so overlooked) Aside from the amusement factor, I think it provides a very deep insight into V's character. After all, what young boy hasn't "battled" imaginary enemies? Using a broom handle as a quarterstaff or a stick as a sword? And gotten "flung back" by our imaginary opponent at some point in the "battle"? I think it shows (or foreshadows) that in many ways "V" is a bit of a child deep down. And the fact that we later learn that he had lost all his memory (decades worth), ergo is developmentally decades YOUNGER than his ACTUAL ager, makes that fact make even more sense!

This is an amazing film based off an even better graphic novel by Alan Moore, it was written about Thatcherism in the UK during the '80s, but it can be about any injustice done to people by their Government. I think that it remains a very important tale, something which should always be kept in mind.

Excellent art by Natalie Portman in this. The wonderful Stephen Fry basically being himself. One of the last parts played by the great John Hurt. In recent memory as the wand maker in the Harry Potter series, also memorable in popular movies, in the first "Alien" movie. Guy Fawkes didn't do it for freedom, but because he wanted the Roman Catholic Papacy back in power in England. Quite the opposite of freedom. Faces in the crowd at the end: Evie's parents, Gotdon, the actress and her girlfriend, the little girl killed by the policeman.

That "something is familiar about his voice" was Hugo Weaving. He played the role of Agent Smith in the Matrix movies, and Elrond in The Lord of the Rings. As to the character Adam Sutler, the chancellor played by John Hurt, was a role reversal of him from the film 1984. He played the role of Winston Smith who was an awaking cog in the dystopian world of Big Brother.

It makes me sad that so few people realize that, at the movie's climax when all of the citizens remove their Guy Fawkes masks, the faces revealed are Evy's Parents, Valerie and Ruth, Eric Finch, the girl in the glasses who was shot in the back, and everyone who was killed by the murderous fascists who took over England. Quite a profound statement.

V's final fight was soo good! Him just popping up in the middle of the area military trained men were searching. His speach.. the most epic "My turn" I think exists in cinema. I could have done with less slow motion. I do like it in some parts.. but in some they should have gone full speed to show V's precision and.. well speed. It was still amazing, and it being written by the Wichowskis.. well that was a given. Product of the time and the writers.. but still fantastic.

So this is like in my top 10 of movies. I've never really made a list but it would definitely be up there. Just a couple of details that most people miss or don't know about. #1 ALL of the books surrounding Evee when she wakes up in V's house are books that are banned from countries around the world. #2 When V tells Mr. Creedy to put a white chalk X on his door if he will turn on the chancellor it had a deeper meaning. Every cell at Lark Hill where someone had died was marked with a white chalk X. You can see it as they approach room V. #3 There is a big debate about what the V stands for. Now the name says vendetta but I think that was just a cool character name so they used it. Some say vengeance, or perhaps Valerie, the woman who died in the cell next to him. In my mind there are clues in the movie itself like "Vox Populi" which simply put means voice of the people. Voice. Evee at the end says he was all of us the people. Much love and keep on keepin on J.

The whole premise of the movie was that 'V' had no face - we did see a glimpse of it in the scene where he emerged from the fire. He was burned when he broke out of Lark Hill Detention and he could have been anybody who was detained by the government... The experiments he was subjected to had erased his memories and identity... He disappeared and was furious at his captors and the fascist UK leaders who used the data at Lark Hill to orchestrate a biological attack against the UK itself to win an election, gain power, and enrich themselves w/ a 'miracle drug' that was designed to cure the disease they had created... They blamed the attack on 'terrorists'. 'V' had spent 2 decades in hiding, plotting his revenge and eventually brought his carefully orchestrated plan to fruition w/ the Bailey bombing... That was when met Evey. Evey was a product of the fascist government actions. Her parents were taken away and likely executed... She was left w/ fear of the government and did her best to conform... Her transformation was essential because 'V' cared enough about her to see that she needed to face her biggest fears and emerged, just like he did, with a conviction and fearlessness to face the future that he was preparing for her and the UK after the 5th of November after he would succeed blowing up the Parliament.

14:07 I think it’s quite enough to change the world, that’s exactly what 9/11 was, so I couldn’t help but have that meme joke in ym head “Am I a joke to you?” Lol. 9/11 drastically changed teh world, it caused the war on terror, and a huge proportion of the death in the world since then.

"I really wanna see his face." In that case, watch one of the Matrix movies, or one of the Lord of the Rings movies. Not Captain America: the First Avenger, though. You won't see much of his face there.

So many parallels to recent history and current events. Almost like it was a blueprint. Or a confession.

I mean the power of an idea a belief is as strong as the number of people that believed in it. In modern day how powerful is the idea of God. His is an ideal of self direction. Every man chooses how his life is lived.
