I was in school during the gulf war and it was fast that this film came out as I watched news from the war and this film both in Jr. High in the same classroom less than a year apart at lunch time. I also know most was shot from another museum battleship dressed as the Iowas were not yet available for filming (like the ship was used later for the movie Battleship during her first post service drydock run. Note: Her sister the New Jersey just did a dry docking and they do a lot of youtube videos normally uploaded at 7PM EST. Fun Fact the closest an Iowa came to being hit by a torpedo was friendly fire from the William D. Porter while President FDR and his entire war staff was aboard. (YOU NEVER WANT THE WILLY D IN YOUR AREA. THE HISTORY IS STRANGER THAN FICTION WITH THE CLOSE CALLS AND DAMAGE TO FREINDLIES)

The one big tactical problem with this movie is that he's using a North Korean submarine. North Korea does not have any Blue Water Submarines. Blue water means that it can cross an ocean. All North Korean submarines are coastal submarines.

Seagal's best by a mile. Great direction, incredible villainy. They used Seagal perfectly, accenting his strengths, hiding his weaknesses. His hand to hand was made to look quick and lethal. I love the knife fight at the end and TLJ here is one of my favorite movie villains. What a maniac.

Steven Seagal was once among the premier action film stars of the 1990s. Pre-film, he trained in martial arts, worked as a security officer, moved into the industry as an weapons master and coordinator. It was 4 years of success by the time he made Under Siege. Seagal's highest grossing film to date, followed by one sequel aka Dark Territory (1995) and recognized as one the best "Die-Hard" copycats. It's also the 2nd film that Seagal made with director Andrew Davis after "Above The Law" (1988,). Good story with suspense with on par action as Seagal can deliver. Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey are too good as villains. The U.S.S. Missouri is a real life, legendary battleship and one of the last to fight in WW2. For more Seagal films, I recommend Hard to Kill and Marked for Death (both in 1990), his one and only film as director-On Deadly Ground (1994) and The Glimmer Man (1996).

There is a rumor that the only reason that Seagal became an actor was that a big-name producer made a bet with some friends that he could make anyone, no matter how untalented or uncharismatic, into a movie star. One of the friends knew of Seagal from the martial arts demonstrations that Seagal had done so he became the person for the wager. Seagal had a couple of hits including this movie, so the producer won the bet. Once the bet had been fulfilled Seagal's movie career took a massive downturn, rightfully so.

Correct me if I am wrong Kristen, but I think what you found attractive about the relationship is that they are true partners. The Chief is actually a strong example of non-toxic masculinity. He's patient, thinks of others well-being first, never cynical or condescending towards her, and most importantly, he RESPECTS HER FEELINGS, even when they may be ungrounded. He also respects her enough to both foster her sense of self-determination as well as trusting his life in her judgment. She, in turn, ups her game and does things she probably would have thought she was previously incapable of.

This was the second of THREE collaborations IN A ROW between Tommy Lee Jones and director Andrew Davis, followed by The Fugitive. The first was with Davis' previous film, a slick, suspenseful conspiracy thriller called The Package, which ALSO saw Jones playing a villain going up against Gene Hackman's tough, grizzled hero. I would HIGHLY recommend that for checking out in the future.

A great review of a great film. A minor detail some people may not know is that except for a few early, real-life clips of the Missouri actually sailing, along with the footage of President Bush being shown, all of the ships' deck scenes were filmed on the decommissioned USS Alabama, now a fixed museum ship in Mobile, Alabama. During the few daytime scenes of the deck areas, it was always filmed close in so as not to show any of the surrounding land or vehicle movements, so most of the action was filmed at night, with black-out screens surrounding the ship to block out any nearby lights. A final note is that except in the opening shots of the real ship sailing, the set-ship is never seen moving (because it can't), and even the image with the F18 flying along the ships' starboard side could have been filmed off the collar that surrounds the Alabama

Missiles (Tomahawk) and torpedoes are very different weapons. Torpedoes are underwater. Harpoons missiles are radar seeking. What shot down the F/A-18 was a Phalanx CWIS system, rapidly shoots close range targets. 17:27 they are tapping SOS on the hull, if anyone is listening they will send someone to check it out. Armpit is a vital area, soft tissue.

When Kristen said she never seen Erika Eleniak with her hair short, this must be when she left Baywatch. She appeared in the first two episode of season 3, then she and Eddie left the show and Baywatch became what it is, a show full of hot girls. Of course that’s when Pamela Anderson came into the scene. Also at 13:48, Jimi Hendrix’s Voodoo Child became a popular song cause Hulk Hogan used it during his nWo run and his return to the WWE in 2002.

Tommy Lee Jones is one of those actors that is just fantastic at every role he does. I would like to see a reaction to the Sequel to this some time. It doesn't disappoint even though a lot of the fan base didn't like it.

The sequel, Under Siege 2: Dark Territory (1995), is actually solid and worth a reaction and was scored by Basil Poledouris (who composed the themes for Robocop, Starship Troopers, and Conan the Barbarian).

Damien Chapa a really good actor unfortunately for whatever reason he didn't do too many mainstream Hollywood films, he decided to stick to making his own C,D list straight to vhs/DVD films lol mostly focused on gang crime life 🤷 but he was great in street fighter and blood in blood out, hint hint jaby blood in blood out is a great film highly recommend 🙏
