Such great patterns and also great ideas you have. You most certainly must make that cute dress (and everything else!). I feel a bit “aargh” with all my projects too! 😘

It’s easy for me to get overwhelmed with more than about three things on the needles at once. I love the dress, I just need to think about what yarn to use 🙂

Mandy, I am so grateful to you because you've given me the confidence to tackle steeking!! I've had my eye on the Voyage cardigan for so long but couldn't bring myself to take the plunge. But I have so much Holst Supersoft in my stash that'll be so perfect for this project and I'm going to go for it! Just waiting to finish a blanket I have on the needles - because the Voyage will take its place as a sort of long-term on-and-off project, but I'm so excited to get going! I love your podcast and it's so nice to be able to 'hang out' with another wheelie-crafter. Big love from the UK!

I'm so excited to see your comment. Thank you so much for stopping by! It makes me super happy to reach other wheelchair user crafters, because knowing there are others makes me feel not alone 🙂. It's awesome that you're going to start the Voyage. I'm going to be honest, I love it so much that I am definitely using the same pattern but with the 1 by 1 color work of the Sea glass cardigan. If steeking goes well, the sky is the limit 🙂. There are just so many amazing things that can be made with color work. Sending lots of hugs from the US, can't wait to see your blanket and Voyage!

Oh wow, that's a lot of plans ! Sounds like great fun though, and I love the looks of the seaglass tee/cardigan. You are right about the Erla top as well 🤩. I''ve been eying more of Bogdanovas' designs, she does have some beauties there ! Not yet sure if I want to make one for myself though, as I somehow feel I am not elegant enough to wear such garments, and not sure what to wear them on. But who knows, some day...

She has some beautiful designs, I was really happy to find them. The Erla top is gorgeous, but I have the same issue. I wouldn’t know where to wear it. You know what though? Maybe we should both make it and wear it wherever we go 🙂. Life’s too short to keep special clothes for only special events ❤️. I can’t wait for the sea glass cardigan. It looks like a lot of fun.

I really enjoy the way you talk about your projects 😊 I have so many similar doubts about my knitting! I am currently making the Maja Cardigan which is steeked colorwork with a construction I have never done before. Here’s hoping it comes out well 😂 I love hand dyed yak yarn, I’ve used Yakity Yak by Greenwood Fiberworks and it is probably my favorite ever yarn to use - the violet color is gorgeous. I’ve also used Canon Hand Dyes Bruce base which is lovely as well.
@mandyvaughnknits
@mandyvaughnknits 3 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for recommending some yak yarn, I am going to check it out 🙂. It is good for us to share our doubts. Knitting can be tricky sometimes and if all everyone sees are wins, it’s easy to get discouraged. I am excited and terrified about steeking all at once 😂. Here’s hoping we’re both successful!

Hi! Thank you so much for stopping by 🙂. If I could only use one knitting pattern, I would use Flax from Tin Can Knits. It’s the perfect base for every weight of yarn and works great as a skeleton for a sweater. My favorite pattern (so far) is probably Hitofude Cardigan by Hiroku Fukatsu. It turned into a beautiful hot pink cardigan and I really liked making it 🙂. It was easy but doesn’t look like it. I also liked Fickle Heart by Justyna Lorkowska. Lots of cables! I love chiagoo interchangeables and I love the four inch ones. They fit my hands well, but I will knit with whatever is available and around 🙂. My favorite needles are smaller sizes because I love using fingering weight yarn the most ❤️

Row by row instructions are so helpful, but I'm the same where I struggle if I can't figure out the pattern to it. Like there's got to be a logic behind it, I doubt the designers were like "here seems like a good row to throw this in." But I wish they just add a quick little couple sentence summary. Like "You are increasing every 5th round for 4 times and then every 3rd round for 5 times. At the same time you are doing xyz. Below are the row by row instructions."
@mandyvaughnknits
@mandyvaughnknits 3 ай бұрын
Definitely this! Anything to just represent what’s happening in words. My favorite patterns give a small description talking about what each section does. Like, “Here rows are increased evenly in preparation for body shaping”. After I really dissected the pattern, I understood it better. It was just a brain teaser for a bit 😂🙂
