Quite frankly all your viewers have choices to make, if they don't like it, well they know what to do. It is not for us to dictate to you what you should and shouldn't do. This is one of the best utube sailing channels and you do a great job, well done.
@psychotimo5 ай бұрын
exactly. the whole "this is not what I signed up for" argument from viewers is complete BS. The channel is about THEIR lives on a boat, and if they deem that spearfishing etc has become a big enough part of this life that it has a place on the channel. Then it does. (not to mention, there's big youtube sailing channels that also show this type of content, and they have millions of subs... it's not like they're showing something that's completely unrelated to the lifestyle, quite the opposite)

Please, please, please . . . tell the woke-folk to take their little boxes of spiders and their little red fire engines and go bother someone who gives a damn what they think. The void they leave will quickly be filled by those of us who know a little about reality and loyalty. So I'm American, and by the rest of this comment, it will most likely show. I've been watching for all of your adventures both above and below water. What I can say is that people who are offended by you and by the way you are living your life and the way you see fit are not worth addressing. These are people who are not in control of their own emotions. Never apologize for things that do not need to be apologized for. You answer to the almighty, your wife, and your family, that is all. A man doesn't answer to his wife if he hopes to keep the relationship stable. He may include her opinion, but he leads and has the final say. If anything, he should be keeping her accountable. It's men after-all who are very rational most of the time, or at least we certainly should be mature enough to have that self-control. No relationship is a perfectly balanced 50/50 split of responsibilities. In every relationship someone's always leading. If it's not the man and he has to answer to his wife, then he should start wearing lipstick, heels, and a dress to let the outside match the inside.
@sailinglongwinded73295 ай бұрын
@davidt1621 While you have a point. A man is to lead. However, if you believe that you can do whatever you want and never have to answer to your wife for poor decisions that you may make that effect her or your family, you will not have a wife for very long. So yes, you answer to your wife as much as she answers to you. No, it's not always 50/50, but to think that you are above answering to her, you're sadly mistaken.
@davidt16215 ай бұрын
@@sailinglongwinded7329 A man answers to his God or the gods to achieve his purpose in life, to simply be good at the role he's been given in this life. That means taking good care of his wife. He doesn't need his wife to mother him if he knows this, and he doesn't need to answer to her if he's competent at his role. A traditional woman follows a competent man, and both benefit from that natural arrangement. Saying, "it's not always 50/50," is ridiculous. It's never 50/50, even if you want it to be. Reality isn't politically correct and never bothered trying to be when western society agreed to change the natural order of things.

I hope the people that do complain about people sourcing food in this way really see things through and think about how they get their food. If you don’t grow your own veggies, chances are the farmer that does has to employ some kind of pest control, or even if they don’t the intensive farming practices required for a vegetarian diet will almost certainly be monoculture where thousands of acres of biodiversity habitat are carved up including every rabbit warren, badger sett, even tree providing homes for birds and squirrels will be eliminated. For every lobster, fish or crab that someone sources themself there has been zero impact on any other organism, no fertiliser put on land or diesel tractor put to use. For every pigeon or deer someone eats, the crop yield is slightly improved even! And finally, why do people think we have such diverse produce in this country? We get sheep from wales because you can’t farm crops on wet hillsides…my point is that a balanced diet includes balance on the environment, and vegetarianism, unless you are genuinely growing everything yourself (and probably providing your own “fertiliser”) is not as environmentally friendly as eating ethically sourced meat can be. I think it it’s important that people are confronted with things they don’t like, it’s humbling and could even by enlightening.

I’m an older dad as well 55 with a 7 year old and I live on my sailboat. Sorry you had to apologize to the folks who don’t understand where the food on the table comes from. That said your description of how your life changed when you held your son is 100% spot on. Your content is well produced and easy to enjoy so remember that the next time there’s a bump in the road. Watch the movie Idiocracy we’re real close to what was a comedy becoming a documentary.

Don't let the haters win, man has been hunter gatherers since he learnt to walk upright and fashion a weapon. It's life. Keep doing what you do. Regards to all the family.

Like you said... its your channel. While hunting for food you only take what you need without distroying the environment. Just how it should be. Just love to see real life. On a boat. Best wishes for you, mom and the kid!

Hope you and your family are well. I’m not sure some people know where food comes from. Love the thought of catching and cooking your own food. It’s been said many times that the only problem with the internet is that it allows all the village idiots in the world to find each other. Do what is best for you and your family and be yourselves xx

Showing our support we have subscribed to the hunter gatherer channel, sod the woke vegan numpty Karens, as for little one, teach him early and he will be the expert by the age of 10.

I follow a number of sailing channels. Some have gone in different directions but I still follow them because often it’s the people that grab your interest. My advice is to ignore these arm chair warriors and keep putting everything on the channel. I follow you for a number of reasons I enjoy your sailing I enjoy watching you as people Of course Hank is a huge draw And I particularly enjoy the hunting gathering. I am a keen sailor and sailed mostly around Asia. Watching you around UK is a pure joy

I’ve followed you from the beginning and you make great videos. I have noticed other sailing channels use food, cooking as a filler when they don’t have much content and it’s really boring. You don’t have to show the whole hunter gathering experience. Just swimming underwater maybe enough. At least you’re not catching a beautiful Mahi-mahi or a large Tuna. But most cruisers are very respectful of the fish they catch and give thanks. When people see food going to waste that’s when people get upset. I do prefer watching sailing activities and boat work videos. But please don’t say “that you’re not an expert” you now offer great advice. 👍👍

I think you’re right, exploring the underwater world will still feature and no doubt be enjoyable for everyone still, I’m just removing the hunting, killing, cooking and eating part, but we can all still admire the underwater world together here too 😌🙏🏼

Incorporated the hunting, into otherwise "yet another couple with camera in stunning place" is in some ways what sets the channel and brand apart. Its interesting. Its surreal , its stunning, and most importantly its rooted in what life actually is.

I don't think this is an uncommon issue for content creators. “You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”.”

Dom, the haters are gonna hate whatever you do. Me, I'm going to watch both channels.😂👍 Great videos, by the way , keep it up.

The last 40 years for me has been hunter gathering on my various dive boats, scallops, lobsters, crabs and flat fish and a few large cod caught by hand. I’ve loved every minute of it , wouldn’t have changed it for the world. Keep doing what you’re doing!

On the one hand a nice rambling rant to advertise you new channel :-) - on the other a fair explanation as to the why and wherefores along with an insight the the variety and foibles of us the mix of humble users that make up your audience. As ever keep smiling, keep the humour and please carry on doing what you are doing in a way that makes you feel comfortable. 🙂 I'm hoping to explore the South Coast and have yet to get out of the Solent!

My wife and I are now sailing clockwise around the UK in ridiculously small steps (we started in Lowestoft two and a half months ago and we have only just gotten to The Yealm 😂) and we’ve been referring to your channel often for nice little anchorages, so thank you. As for the spear fishing, hunter-gatherer stuff I will miss it because I enjoyed that too. I know I can go to the other channel, but realistically I probably won’t. Never mind though, you’re doing a great job with the vids. Well done.
