Hey guys! Today I’m going to show you how to create coloured horizontal lines using vertical double half hitch knots. Next week I’ll show you how to create coloured vertical lines.
Let’s get started! Attach Colour 1 to the left side of your work using a vertical double half hitch knot. Continue tying vertical double half hitch knots until you’ve reached the right side of your work.
Attach Colour 2 to the left side of your work using a vertical double half hitch knot. Continue tying vertical double half hitch knots until you’ve reached the right side of your work.
Repeat this process until you’ve created a wall hanging of your desired length. I’m going to alternate between the natural, beige cord and a coloured cord so I’ll create another row with beige cord then a row with a pink cord.
Here are a few options on how you can incorporate this design into your work:
1. Leave as is - tuck the ends into the back of your work or leave them hanging on the sides.
2. Create a second panel identical to this one and leave the rope hanging loose in the middle.
3. Create a second panel but leave the rope hanging tight. Keep in mind that you will need your working cords to be quite long to create 2 or more panels.
Thanks so much for watching! I love to see your work so please feel free to tag me on Instagram or Facebook if you’ve used one of my tutorials.

I really like your videos, i just started macrame and this video was a great tutorial of the larks head knot horizontal. But i am struggling on how to tuck in the end of the cord. Do you have any tips?

Hi, I am hoping you can help me. How do you add length to the filler cords if it turns out the cords are not long enough?

I have the same question - I'm making/freestyling a purse and would love to create the front flap using this technique; however I only have a few inches of filler cord left. 🤔 Thank you!

I tuck the ends into the backs of the double half hitch knots. I don't have a video focusing on this but I can create one!
