Lotus just said "lets take the Opel Omega 3000 and make it into a beast" back in the days. Would love to see more cooperations with Lotus these days on some "boring" stock cars.

Oh, it was GM that said that, not Lotus. Then Lotus turned around with "how does this work for you?" And we never got anything similar in the sates because GM still had some part of their head up a certain part of their body and why I had to get my joy out of a German car imported from Canada so it met European standards. Ford pulled a similar stunt on me too. Basis of the story, congrats kids, the best American cars aren't built in America for the American market, and you have to go "foreign" to find them.

Massive difference once done could really see the swirl marks in paint and then lotus Carlton are such a lovely car and using a viper gearbox to take torque and power I’d love a detailing booth like that but I have to do with a drive instead

There isn't many cars from the 90s blue collar heros that still make me dribble but the lotus carlton will turn more heads than any so called super cars these days .rs 500 and a lotus carlton in you're garage and your was the 90s player of choice .super legendary car from a time when boost was king 🤴 👍

WHat a CAR!!!!!!! The days when GM actually made good cars. These Opels were the basis of our VN series Holden Commodores. I remember we took a SV5000 over via WHEELS Mag and ran a compare with one of these plus BMW, MB, Audi. This was a beast.

Actually it was the Opel Senator B the VN is based on, but yes same family of cars and various components.The lotus Carlton actually has a VN GRPA LSD diff and GRPA/Corvette ZF six speed. This was during Peter Stevens time at Lotus and he designed the full SV5000 body kit for Tom Walkinshaw (TWR) just prior to the Jaguar XJR-15 and Mclaren F1. A great era for the automotive industry with Group A and Group C the icing on the cake.

​@@CoreyjGrieve Yes your correct. GMH adopted the Senators four glass pillars for our VN as it gave it a bigger car look plus more upmarket. Also it used flush glass for better aero which was around .32CD. Yep these used our Grp A rear diff that could handle all that torque from the twin turbos. Plus the rugged if slightly stiff ZF 6 speed with moon shot .5 overdrive in 6th. God we will miss our Aussie engineering that was world class. Great cars from a much better time in history.
