What did I just watch? This shouldn't be on KZbin but on TV! What an incredible production this is, what a car too and we aren't even mentioning the presenter/driver. Only would have lowered the volume of the music at times when you were talking but that didn't spoil the video, I'm just being picky here. Props to you Sid and everyone involved this is a film to be very, very proud of.

@R A Nah the cars until 2000 were actually great but GM fucked up the last years. They didn't only ruin Opel they also ruined other Brands and started building crap cars. BTW I am aware that GM bought Opel back then and maybe I shouldn't talk about GM like that because there might be no Opel without GM today. I wasn't saying that GM ruined them back in 1928 I'm talking about the last 15 years.

@R A just look at the Commodore or Diplomat those are great cars. I also want to restore a Kadett in a few years. Old Opels are really great and I bet they were fun back then and could compete with other German Cars but now Mercedes, BMW, and Audi make way better cars (my opinion)

My dad had a 2.6L Carlton Diplomat. I have fond memories of that car, the leg room in the rear was endless, especially as a kid, and the full leather interior was as comfy as anything. The Vauxhall Carlton has always had a special place in my heart, even the basic models, but the Lotus is my dream car!

Yep, when he said they stopped importing them from Australia in 2017 for "some reason", I was going to make the comment you already have. It's because GM have cancelled GM Australia, basically. No more cars designed and built in Australia. Instead they are importing Opel Insignia's to Australia, front wheel drive pieces of crap and rebadging it as a Commodore. I don't think the Australian public will be fooled.... and certainly, there will be no more Commodores exported to the UK as Vauxhell VX, or to the US as Chevrolet SS. They will have to find a new police car in both Australia and the USA now

Excellent review...very respectful of the car and era....I am on my 50s and had Carlton GSi company car which compared with BMW 5 of the day was a very very good car....however I was due to go to France to stay in the Pyrenees for two weeks with my then wife and two friends, the car was only two weeks old and had an issue with the power steering....the day before we were due to leave, I was fortunate that our small business ran some 30 Vauxhall Astra/Cavaliers...so I had a major strop when offered an Astra to fit four and luggage.....the situation was resolved by their sales director lending me their Lotus Carlton demonstrator ...on the proviso that I was the only driver😋.... it was unbelievable back in the day....3000 mile test drive

Very good video, well executed and very good production. Perhaps you could do a series on 80's / 90's cars like this? Audi Quattro / Sierra RS Cosworth / GC8 Impreza / Integrale and such like? The LC is a car I always admired but could never afford, but as a Ford man at heart back then, I would have still chosen the Sapphire RS Cosworth I used to own over one. Would love an LC today, but they're very expensive for rubbish ones, and the good ones are a case of if you have to ask, you cannot afford.
