Great video Tuga, I really appreciated how you replaced the Allen key bolts with cap bolts and spacers--brilliant! I'm currently (this very weekend) doing the timing belt on my '91 m100 and found removing the rubber engine mount from the frame freed up a bit of space and was pretty easy to do. I did have unexpected trouble with the bottom right-hand bolt on the water pump. Mine was up against a heavy bracket behind the power-steering pump. Nothing was bolted to it, so I ground away of that bracket with my PNEUMATIC 3/8 in. Air ribbon belt Sander. Your video on the little A post pillar was very helpful as well and I'm about to replace the inside and outside weather stripping too. Thanks, from California!

Another informative video. Great idea for the engine mount rear bolts. I struggled with the allen bolts when did mine. Looking forward to your 'converting to closed loop' video👍

Excellent guide Tuga. I did mine this weekend just gone. I watched through both your video and Toby's on the restoration series, plus read up on the LEC Forum Wiki for tips. All essential prep before taking on this goliath challenge. Frustratingly it is a straightforward job but made 100 times more difficult due to the none existant access in so many places and the need to remove so much other ancilliary equipment. It really is a task that takes more time dealing with fasteners than actually doing the job itself. I changed my water pump too which fitted spot on thankfully, and also the idler and tensioner pulleys. They didnt look like they had ever been changed and were quite noisy when spun. I'm still patting myself on the back two days later having finally completed it. Now on a 5 year countdown until i get to repeat it all again!

Thanks, I try my best to show what is done and how I do it, but it's very obvious I have a very different style to Toby's videos. I have no hesitation in recommending that channel, (even tho I'm very jealous of how successful it is compared to mine 🤣)

How long did this take you ?ta

I had 6:40 hours of footage to start, and there was 3 hours wasted on the water pump issue which was not filmed. The crank pulley bolt was a 20 second job, you can expect that one to take a while, it certainly took me multiple hours to do it the first time around. Also. If you don't have a lift, add time accordingly for all that faffing about. When the car is on the lift, if something is hard to reach, it takes seconds to adjust the car position to make the job easier. easy access really speeds up the process

@@tuga2112 thanks - its beyond me but helpful in pricing it up for specialist. Mine is 5 years old and only 3k miles since last done so looking at June next year

@paulgilliatt7829 I wouldn't be happy if my customer argued my timings for a job because someone of KZbin took x long. There's a lot of context that makes variations on timing for this job. I already had a very clear idea of the difficult areas and how to overcome them. But even with that prior experience, I had 3 hours wasted because one part didn't fit exactly right

Dear Sir, if DAYCO water pump does not fit exactly, do you have any idea what make would fit better, some that we can find today. I am having problems to decide which will fit, with all the parts you are referring to, belts, pump, pulleys so if you have a clue I would appreciate your advise. Thanks in advance
@tuga21123 ай бұрын
I'm afraid I don't know, If you want to play safe my recommendation is to get the parts from an established lotus parts supplier. That will cost you a premium but, In theory, those suppliers only sell parts they know are 100% compatible (I'm saying in theory to avoid a rant about alternators) If you source the parts like I'm doing, for the Isuzu model, they will fit, but due to the different access you have to the engine, it may require some ingenuity in order to install. Good luck

@@tuga2112 Thank you for the advise, it seems I can find parts easier in the American market. ABout the water pump, i have found one in one of my countries part suppliers, for the impulse engine. I will try to fit it and then I report my results. I surely have in mind your steps of drilling the pump's holes. Any ideas which site to search for seals between the hood and windows ?
