Had mine 7 years and never realised the seats came out like that...😆. My 3 boys have grown up being in the back although my eldest is as tall as me now. I still absolutely love it and it has been super reliable and having owned Esprits, Elan's and Elise's although I love them all because of what the Evora can do with my kids it's makes just that little bit extra special....😉👍

Sportcars have the right to children. I have an electric Jaguar as a daily and an Alpine for the occasional drive. My 3 and 6 year old understand its special and that's what I want to pass on to them :) Unique youtube channel love it.

The most children friendly grand tourismo Dads Car is the Maserati Grand Tourismo. My daughters loved our 3200 GT when they were 2 and 6 years old respectively. Pretty large boot for beach equipment or grocery shopping as well. Strongly recommend the Maserati grand tourers.

My youngest daughter was old enough for booster seat when I got my Elise. She has flashbacks of being buried with shopping bags when we went for groceries... traded up for an Evora S a year ago and have not regretted it at all. Kids are now too big for the back, but it holds a lot of luggage... or groceries... BTW, your daughter is adorable!

Great video mate! I've luckily only got one child and she's onto front facing now so fits in mine fine. This one has been modified with door handles changing from Chrome, different wheels, different tailgate as you said originally was glass and also different gear knob. Engine its the engine from the Rav4. But gearbox wise they put Lotus gears in 4th, 5th and 6th which are prone to going! Had a laugh when you saw about the immobiliser - its a bit of a pain! Question is though did you have Sport mode on?

Yes I had it on :), the metallic gear knob was same as my Elise and It was so nice to use! Awesome stuff using a lotus as a dad car Alex 👏

Good spots! Body coloured door handles were a (popular) factory option. The forged wheels this car has were also a factory option but less popular as it was quite expensive. Gear knob is aluminium like the Elise/Exige and tailgate is from an Evora 410/430.

What are your thoughts on the newer versions of both these cars? The Lotus Emira and Aston Vantage (with a manual box)?

Both are 2 seaters so are not my personal focus right now… however the Emira is a pretty much perfect looking car while the new vantage is questionable from a couple angles. I’d love to drive them both I’m sure they are fantastic

What a review - you look so happy to be back in a Lotus! Which is also where I am aiming to be again soon. I used to have an S2 111S which I miss more than I'd care to put into words, but having toyed with the idea of an Evora (simply so I *could* pop the kids in the back for occasional use) I kept coming back to the same conclusion that I would miss taking the roof off an Elise too much to opt for an Evora, and as my current car is quicker than my 111S I was only interested in an S2 SC. Until this video. From your memory of the Elise, is the SC a 'better' car to drive than the Evora and if the Evora was the only option you could take of the two, would you still miss the Elise SC whilst driving the Evora?

The Elise SC was a more raw experience and felt faster, so if you’re buying something as a second car to sit in the garage and only come out on nice weekends then the Elise is a better fit. But for a car you’re going to use much more frequently the Evora still feels like a proper lotus but it’s just a far more usable thing. You could daily a Evora easily.

A visitor from Jayemm. Loved this one. My child has grown up now but when he was born I chopped in my E36 318i BMW for a Nissan Pulsar GTiR, had to get the seat belt extended to fit my sons rear facing seat! When he was about 3 I changed to a Honda Integra Type R and he wasn’t allowed to wear shoes incase he marked the red recaro seats😂. Sadly it meant he was dropped off at nursery once or twice with no shoes😂. Now that he’s 23 I’ve sold the BMW M2C and we both have MX5s, not a great dad car for your age range of kids but perfect for me and my son. Great vlogs and I’m enjoying going through the back catalogue.

If you are interested in larger interior space you will want to check out the Evora 400 or GT versions that has been redesigned inside and out. But, the cost will be higher than the NA Evora and the Evora S. I believe the maintenance will be around the same but will be much more affordable than an Aston Martin due to the Toyota drivetrain.

He claims there is over 1 more foot in the back seat side to side also for rear passengers feet in the 400 (that is the same as the GT) when compared to the NA and the S.

@@dadcars So was I until he had a falling out with Lotus. I don't know. Maybe he bought a lemon because the vehicle is essentially a Toyota 2GR-FE engine, one of the most notoriously reliable engines on the planet mated to an Aisin transmission, best manufacturers in the business, modified for racing. Eventually he came around and warmed back to Lotus as you can see in the final video.

Depending on their size/age you may not need anything more than a booster seat in the back. The seats are so small and the belts so low that with just a booster, and actually in the case of my 7yr old actually without, the belts are perfectly placed across their shoulder. My kids love the Evora and pick it over the other cars for every trip where we have the choice.

Apologies if you mentioned in the video, what is your height and daughter's height? I've heard that rear seat width is a bit more generous in the 400/410/GT. I need at least a 2+2 with kids, so this or a 2-series (I know, different league than the Evora) is in the running.

Yeah I’ve featured a 2 series as well… it won’t be anywhere near as exciting or special but depends if you just need a proper easy to live with car or not. I’d go for the Evora 😎 I’m 5 11 but long body short legs, my daughter was 5 at the time of recording not sure on height

@@dadcars To the letter, but perhaps not in the spirit, of your question. The gen 1 Toyota Previa was front mid-engined and available with a supercharged 4cylinder as there was no way to fit the v6 or v8 that the Americans wanted.
