Absolutely brilliant. While all modern cars are obsessed with power output and becoming duller and character-less to drive, Lotus have stuck to their roots and continued to produce proper driver's cars. For all you critics who have never driven a Lotus, go try one and you will realise why 500HP is irrelevant on the public road. It's all about the chassis and feedback.

Eric Fortune true! I guess they all think the Nissan GTR is the best car ever made as it has the fastest 0-60 time of 2.5s (in which no car journalist has ever achieved).

Davie Man. Even a 2005 n/a Exige has amazing road manners and easily breaks the speed limit and that's 190hp.

I have never met a person who hates Lotus, that has driven one. All Lotus haters have never driven one. They do this with other things in life too, such as criticising other peoples watches or food they eat. This is because they take a carrot in the bum, and had their parents do the thinking for them when they were growing up.

Yeah was, like a decade ago, but these days 3.9 seconds is more sports car or hot saloon territory lol. Times are a changin.

Ethanmeister But still,this car can beat most of the Porsche out there like 911 carrera 4S. And the lightness made this car fast everywhere,meaning every corners.Power make you fast in a straight line,lightness make you fast everywhere. This car almost match the Ferrari F430 F1(which was definitely a supercar and still in theses days). this car top speed was 190mph while F430 was 197.4 mph.this car acceleration 62mph/100km was 4.2sec while F430 was 3.7sec.Just a little bit of differences and we can confirm this car is a full blown supercar.(almost the same as mclaren 540c,0-60mph in 3.5,top speed 199mph) Plus,Top gear stated this car can claim the best handling car in the world which mean the most important aspect of this car was handling.this car bring joy experience in every aspect. But I wish they add open-gated gear shift and more carbon fiber on this car tho,even tho there's lotus exclusive.

We are specifically talking about acceleration here. The 911, particularly the base and S model's, aren't supercars they are sports cars like a C7 Stingray but even still the C4S gets to 60 in 3.5 seconds with a PDK and 3.7 without. The C2S would've been a better comparison. As for the F430, that car is 13 years old now. Notice how I said "like a decade ago"? And the 540c is a modern entry level supercar so that 3.5 seconds is about the minimum for a supercar these days (though it's factory claimed 3.3 seconds). And sub 3 seconds is already supercar territory, we've already got the 488, huracan, a bunch of mclarens, GTR, 911 Turbo S and the R8 V10 plus does it in 2.6 seconds which is modern hypercar territory.

Anyway the performance of modern super and hypercars is such, these days, that 0-60mph is becoming an inadequate gauge of straight line performance. Hence why manufactures have been releasing 0-100mph, 0-124mph, and 0-186mph numbers much more lately.

so many car reviews in the uk do it in crappy weather that has a great influence. Porsche uses 6 cylinder engines to great effect you don't need an 8 all the time. Can a lotus be reliable

I recon it's time Lotus make a supercar to compete with Lamborghini and Ferrari, like the Esprit concept while maintaining the Lotus characteristics and values. From what I know people always complain about Lotus prices and interiors and if Lotus can nails these two I recon the brand could get more exposure in the supercar market.
