In Rainbows is absolutely amazing, its so stripped down from their previous ones. And how simple yet amazing that album is makes no sense, but it is. I didn't like it at first but it grew and grew on me, its so jamming and groovy, you cant resist it

Every song from Thom and Radiohead is a gift. This is a standout work of beauty. The melody is a wonder, the vocal control and emotional content are astounding! This certainly isnt flawless, but it's fun to be an artist's sketchpad.

I'm all for progression and I love that they did something different with the studio version (which has really been growing on me lately), but I would have loved it if they had recorded the studio version like this. Just Thom, the guitar and those beautiful melodies juxtaposed against the polyrythms of Little by Little and the deep introspective ambience of Codex wafted softly into the heart of The King Of Limbs. That alone would have made the album even more precious just to me (if possible :).

As with any art everyone is free to interpret it however they like. I think it's more about two people having a passionate but short-lived relationship and having to let go, because their love isn't meant to be ("the weeds take root, so now I set you free"). But I can definitely see where you're coming from with the affair thing, heh. In any case, it's simply a spellbinding and absolutely gorgeous song. I just can't wait for the next Radiohead album.

i can see where ur coming from..would love to hear the whole band kick in. however, thoms falsetto melody along with the minor/major switches makes the song work for me. this song is much like "follow me around" . cheers jon.

The muse doesn't necessarily have to be a real person. The song could have been inspired by a book, a movie, or just a general idea, or a fantasy, if you will. Thom Yorke's songs, even though they may sound personal, are often based on something he hasn't personally experienced. But his keen sense of empathy and his ability to relate and put himself in the shoes of the people who have, is one of the things that make him such a brilliant artist.

the guitar part and the falsetto melody reminds me of the part in "O' Brother, Where Art' Though?" when the trio is bedding down for the night with "Robert Johnson" (the black guitar player) and he plays a song very similar in style to this by the campfire. It was really catchy in the movie, i even considered borrowing it.

@busteraperture Man, i thought Kid A and amnesiac which was pretty much during the same session as Kid A. I mean in Kid A you have Idioteque, Everything in its Right Place, In Limbo, How to Disappear, Morning Bell, The National Anthem. Bottom line, Kid A was fucking awesome. From OK Computer and up was just an amazing incline of amazing talent. Their talent will never grow old. Thom Yorke is an amazing artist and song writer, he knows exactly what he's doing.

People gave me thumbs down because they don't like to hear their favorite artist or whatever being criticized. It's like if you like a band everything related to it it must be perfect without exception. Radiohead is my favorite band but I'm open minded enough to say "I don't like some of their songs".

as great as this is i actually like the studio version better. i think the vocal melody is way more haunting in the chorus, with that singular synth melody accompanying thom when he sings "slowly we unfurl..". the new album is a real grower.

@DRUMMERLORD95 the sound is reminiscent of Jeff Buckley... R.I.P. (makes sense as Thom is a self-proclaimed admirer of the late, great JB), but with less soul/RnB influence and more... well... more Thom. as a song writer myself, the simplicity of Thom's melodies blow my mind... And /agree at Thom's voice getting better. He was great back in the day but now he's pushing the envelope... and who can't love that?
