Hi all,
Today we are continuing on our Lotus Flower quilt and we are going to let the custom quilting commence. I love the way this quilt turned out and you can see, it's really not that hard. Custom quilting takes time and that is why it's more expensive to do. I am going to really use my Reposition Nudge and my Rotate Nudge to help me get these designs placed as good as possible. You can see, they are not perfect at all, but they look good in the end. Don't stress the small stuff, have fun and you can do it too.
Again, a BIG THANK YOU to Connecting Threads and Quiltable (remember code "asf10" will save you an additional 10% off your purchase) for sponsoring this video.

Okay, so, awesome as always! QQ: With the last "wings" design: Could you have opened one design, then done all your length & width adjustment to get it to fit within the area, THEN duplicated the 1st adjusted design 3 times to have each of the other wings designs to have less adjustment, and just some repositioning? I just love this tutorial series. For anyone wanting to tackle a Judy Niemeyer quilt, especially a more complex one, this is the place to start for sure. I'm going to make this myself, have all my fabrics and getting ready to piece the top this weekend. Thank you for such great, detailed info, especially the making of an area that has multiple "areas" for positioning! Learned something very cool and new to me 😍

I meant to respond on Friday and totally forgot, sorry. You can set up the first one, save and use that one. I find, especially when there is curved piecing, that every piece will usually have some kind of adjustments needed. That is the way I usually do my more block designs. I have the other one that I need to quilt, so maybe I will try that and see how much I have to change on that one.

You make everything look so easy!! Every time I watch a video I get so inspired to go play with my prostitcher and find out it really isn’t as scary as I thought it would be.

When I get time, I'm going to see if I can do a series on how to work with one of there patterns. I just have to get the time and reach out to them to see if they will let me. I have to make sure I don't cross any copyright lines and want to give all the credit when it's due.

Every time I watch one of your videos, I start out thinking, “yeah, yeah, yeah, prostitcher, prostitcher, prostitcher,” ok, get on with the quilting! ( 😂 ) But then I always get sucked in watching you adjust the designs on prostitcher, and I get so engrossed because it looks like so much fun moving the designs around and adjusting them; and I just love the precision of being able to do that! (AND I don’t even have prostitcher!!!) I just recently got my Amara, and that was a big jump for me so the prostitcher is not in the budget. And, it seems like I should learn to use it and take advantage of the benefits of what I do have, which is awesome! And doing free motion is what I bought it for because it is so fun!!! But I have always been attracted to using computers for precision things and it’s just so cool to dream up projects and satisfying to know there is a way to make the computer do exactly what you want, how you want, and where you want. 🖐 That all being said, this quilt is gorgeous and I love the colors, as well as the texture and how it’s turning out! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Q: Why did you always have to turn the design straight up and down before you adjusted the width? Can you not adjust that from any position? TFS. 🧵

Connecting Threads and Quiltable did sponsor this video and have both been great to work with. I do have some agreements with Superior Threads, so don't worry, I am being taken care of. Either way, I used all of the products before any of this, because I love that products so much.

Love your videos. I know for this wallhanging you stitch near the ditch on the whole thing before doing the other elements, is that what you would do for a queen quilt also, or do you work your way down the quilt? I always do E2E designs but want to start doing custom quilting but am unsure on the stitch in the ditch process.

After you complete your design within the area you created do you baseline the whole design prior to stitching it?

As always, another really great, informative video, Adam. At least I know I've been on the right track with custom quilting. I do have a question: If for some reason the piecing is not as precise as it should be, and the area is "off" is it possible to bring an area over to Designer, bring the necessary quilting design in, resize it to fit the area that is not quite right? If it is possible, could you do a video on how that is accomplished? I'm still not very proficient with Designer...and I have watched your videos on it as well as HQs :) Thanks!

If you have designer loaded on your tablet, you can create an area, open the design and send them bother over to Designer with a push of a button. I don’t usually do this, as I’m also not great in designer. I usually just use my PS tools to shift and edit the design to fit.

Question when you were doing the orange points. Once you got them all sized and repositioned it didn't look as if you baselined or saved. In particular, is there a reason you did not baseline?
@adamsewfun.
@adamsewfun. 2 жыл бұрын
I didn't save or baseline, you are correct. If the program crashed, I would have to take the time to line everything up again, so I didn't save them because I would have to do the process over again anyway. I didn't baseline them because Baseline would have frozen them all together into one group and that wasn't needed for this project. I talk about it in the next video, because there were 18 pieces open and I wanted the Pro-Stitcher brain to not have to work so hard. Something you HAVE to Baseline (cropping, align, e2e) and somethings are ok if you don't.

I love this video. I learned so much. I do have a question. How do you advance the quilt to the top when you have quilted the bottom?
@adamsewfun.
@adamsewfun. 2 жыл бұрын
You just have to roll it back up. I had already stitched down the bottom edge when I stitched the ditch, so I trimmed off the excess batting and everything is just rolling up on my belly bar, since it’s 1 piece now.

Did you change out your bobbins to the same colour as the top or did you use one colour for the back?

I did, each color has its own bobbin.
