Lotus Meteor | Review

In 2016, XIKAR showed off a new version of the standard double guillotine cutter that is the defacto standard way for most people to cut their cigars. The XIKAR XO has a circular metal body that houses two handles, each with a blade on the end of them. At $99.99+, it's not the most affordable cutter, but it's become a favorite for many cigar smokers.
As with any idea, it was only a matter of time before someone else tried to make their own version of the cutter. Last year, Lotus introduced the Meteor cutter ($59.99), a slightly smaller version of the cutter that the company says can cut a 64 ring gauge, just like the XIKAR XO. There are some noticeable differences between the XO and Meteor. Brooks Whittington gives you his thoughts on the Lotus and which cutter you should buy.

bruh, you put your cigars inside the cutter, not your fingers

You don't need to see how much of the cigar you cutting off, that's what the idea is for a backplate. You simply put the cigar all the way inn and cut it off, simple. I'm using Cuban Crafters Perfect Cut cutter and i love it.

I think if they drilled a small hole the back plate, a la Cuban Crafters, they might have a winner. I guess the end user can drill a pilot hole and use a step bit which is what I’d do if I were to purchase it.

I don't think I paid more than $40 for my Honeycomb XO on CBid. But that is a nice alternative for some people I'm sure. Always good to have some competition if nothing else lol
