I bought a Rogue mini Les Paul in a blue burst back around '95 when my son was born. He never really got into playing guitar at all. Watching your vid made me go dig that thing out. Probably hasn't been played since around '97. I think it still has the original strings on it, really rough. Your video has me restringing the thing at 1am !

I suggest installing heavy strings (13's). I have an Epiphone Wee Vee with a 19 inch scale length. Like your guitar, it is supposed to be tuned up to G or even to A. But with the .013 - .056 gauge strings, I can tune it back down to E standard tuning and the strings feel normal (not like floppy rubber bands). The intonation isn't perfect, but my bridge is not adjustable. I have even played it in public with good results!

I think they are really cool.I have a couple as well.One is a maxtone "fender style"single pickup.seems even smaller than that one, but not really tunable.I think I could set it up if I moved the bridge back.But like you said it's a novelty thing.The other one is a micro made by Ibanez "not the same thing I know", but very tunable and playable.I looked for a les Paul burst to match my full size but couldn't find one.that one looks sweet though! Thanks for posting.

That guitar sounds great through your rig for sure. But what I notice is the angle of the strings running up the neck, most notably the low E string and how it is way below the top of the fret board on the upper register. The other thing I noticed about the guitar is the poles pieces on the pup. The E A and D strings do not align above them like they should be. I wonder if you could buy custom sized pick ups made for this axe. Cool guitar. Thx for sharing!
@BertGrink6 жыл бұрын
I also noticed the 'offset' of the pickups, but then i thought; maybe it's deliberate... maybe the output from the bass strings would be too high otherwise?

That would be perfect for my 8 year old niece, she always wants to play but mine are too big, I almost had her a Grass Roots made by ESP mini Les Paul, it was on Guitar Center's website for $100, obviously someone bought it in that Michigan GC and had no idea what it was and I ordered it for $100 and then they up'd the price to $250 and then took it down, I tried to find another one and the cheapest one I found was $833 and it was used, GC pulled a dick move, I thought if they had something posted and someone buys it that they had to then sell for that price but I guess they just do what they want

Lotus was a house brand of Midco, a distributor from Effingham, IL. They were bought out by MBT, who was then bought out by KMC, who was then bought out by Fender and eventually bought by Jam Industries current owner of Washburn. So perhaps the Jam conglomerate may own the brand, but most likely the brand is extinct.

I am 25 now but my old man was a teenager in the 80’s so he introduced me to his favorite band Van Halen. Ever since then I have really only used what Eddie used. I desperately want one of these for recording and just to bust out on stage for goofs. That being said the song little guitars by van halen was recorded on this guitar and he used it live too. So I have really wanted one but they are becoming unicorns.

Gotoh's Delta Series 21:1 are supposed to be the best cleaners on the market they have features no other tuners I have such as Teflon plated gears. What impressed me about these was when I saw a video was somebody replacing these onto a Taylor acoustic and it made a major difference in the overall tone of the guitar I never thought a tuner could do that much of a difference he gave me better on my neck's and sustain in a little more volume this is on the acoustic guitar so I feel like if you could hear it that much on the acoustic it's pretty noticeable and I'm listening to it on a cell phone speaker so you know and then when you said that was a short scale guitar I thought the high ratio of 21 to 1 wood probably help that 19 inch scale guitar a lot and make it easier for you to tune because that's the highest ratio tuner that I know of. God Bless Y'all Jimmy in NC....

The secret to short scale guitar tuners is, having a high ratio tuner. That way you can achieve that precise tune. I have an ibanez mikro and use Wilkinson 19:1 tuners on it. Really easy to tune.

Could you put real heavy string on it like .14 or idk .16 or whatever and tune it to 'E'. That would give you more tuningstability too and less detune when you press down. Or wouldnt that work?
@therugburnz7 жыл бұрын
jan de man I tried that on a hardtail Stray type using 13-52 and the tension was about right but the saddles under the two thickest strings had to have the spring removed to get them in the proper place. On a Led Paul type you don't have that option . One could flip the saddle around but that only gains about two or three millimetres. Def worth a try. Maybe compromise and make the E strings G or Gb. An alternate Nashville tuning kinda thing maybe ?
