I am a bit confused. In the passage you mention from p420 onwards, it seems to be a super advanced level only attained by a few people. Page 283 which is also about dan tian there is talk of consolidation but no discussion of forming the dan tian. He even advises against trying to fill the dan tian. But in this video, building the "outer walls" of the dan tian seems like the 1st thing to do for effective qi gong and nei gong practice.

@@7seednew I am afraid not. Information is scattered in his different books and I haven't had the time to read the others. Only hint from some recent videos, which appears comparable to a claim made by Mizner, is the notion of building a "qi gong body" before being able to do any actual qi gong.

Just visited the Chen Bing website today and they had all their nei gong components of practice summarized in a PDF. Probably would've only been passed down to disciples a decade ago.

It's a gun barrel actually- in the 007 intro- looking down the barrel of a gun with the rifle marks- that you referred to as a camera. It does look a lot like a camera lens! This is really a great podcast- very, very much appreciate you digging into the theory deeper- makes what I study with Adam Mizner much more understandable! I agree with you completely that without this foundation in theory most of Nei Gong is not going to be achieved... so thank you! It's the reason I signed up for your course! Again- you're making Adam's course make sense ;-)

Thanks for, so clearly, demystifying this topic. It's so refreshing hearing someone talk who actually knows what he's talking about. I think this stuff is so important nowadays where people are becoming so disconnected with themselves and everyone is worshiping machines instead, to find and cultivate the powers inherent in human beings. We're capable of so much but that power seems always to be thrown away, "the machine will do it for me" while I remain impotent. I am a beginner, I did tai chi for 5 years and they taught me nothing essentially except for some dances and that really turned me off from the whole thing, but this process of cultivating the LDT is very interesting and I'd love to do it, if I could find an effective method of practice. I will look into your newest book, as some comments suggest, but if you felt like directing me to a vid showing the process/exercise to help me along, I would definitely practice it.

I have never studied Qigong or Nei(?) gong but I have recently been syncronistically guided to study how to heal the root chakra and build Qi in the lower dantien (I realize that chakras and dantien are entirely different schools of thought but I feel as though both exist but on different plains of existence/energetic fields). My search started with looking to heal the root chakra in order to heal childhood wounds and then evolved to building Qi in the lower dantien for manifesting. I’m an energetic healer and it seems this is imperative for what I do. Interestingly, I have, on occasion, experienced involuntary rhythmic flexing (like pulsating crunches) of my lower abdominals as well as involuntary smacking of that area with my hand. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I assume this was to build up that “vessel”. I have some favorite breathing techniques but what breathing techniques would you suggest for replenishing Qi in the lower dantien?

Super super helpful. Just the "guard the mind" idea, more yin than yang, not "doing", helped me instantly. Then "letting" the dantian do its thing just happens. Symmetric Field Theory is useful to be understood and utilized to create a Dan Tian or Field of Elixer as a foundation of Qigong. It's generally not something a lot of people now days are able to conceptualize, because we're based in materialism. You don't necessarily need to believe in spiritual energy, new age, crystal ball rubbing etc. But Field Theory is almost an absolute must, maybe, at least in my view at this stage, to develop a Dan Tian. The issue is, it's not a science that is currently in accepted existence yet, not on this Earth. But you can still conceive of it and understand it. Damo here, is one of very few who can offer this. When enough people do, this is already a very good analogue to access much needed breakthroughs that materialist science accepts is probably possible, but has no analogue to conceive of.

I"ve done many many years of meditation in presence of a liberated soul, not from this tradition but yet the principals are the same when one is internally centered. I started couple of years qigong practice and suddenly was drawn to neigong, I understand why. cannot gather qi from outside , there is only the inside in the process. I have a question about this subject- you said that when when you feel some sort of pintching from the inside of the lower abdomen or something like that, that means that the vessel is there. Is there any kind of special consideration for pregnant women? Does the pregnancy effect the location, quality and other paremeters of this vessel?

@davidlodge8123
@davidlodge8123 2 жыл бұрын
Great video, but if you bring it back to the beginning... if one wanted to improve simply improve the kidneys through qigong you would need to go through this whole process of building the yin qualities of the dantian for up to a year in some cases? I wonder if there is a more direct elemental route to building the yin of the dantian, perhaps focusing on a sensation of coolness and gravity there for example. Perhaps feeling the weight of you legs getting heavier and having and the coolness from the earth entering the dantian increasing it's gravity. The kidneys in TCM relate to water, which is cold. You mentioned somewhere else that the kidneys generate a magnetic field... I wonder then if there is a direct route to build this yin by working more with the elemental qualities. I have dabbled in western hermeticism and have experienced the power of elemental meditations, so I do wonder if they could be linked. I remember I had a urinary tract infection once, couldn't move it for weeks even with pills and stuff. Then I had the intuition to feel the sensation of cold running water around the dantian region, and within minutes it was gone permanently.

Thank you for sharing. It may help some to have another perspective from kriya, where the foundational practice is balancing the mind-energy with body. Then one simply opens a space. The mind is automatically placed and guarded, because it is no longer in the form of outer thought, rather as that space within the body. There is no conflict, or pushing together of yang and yin qualities, unless we think there is, rather like nectar flame consciously consciously, the balance is an expression, and we change the expression or a kind of temperature made out of the qualities of creation. Eventually, the space can open to any space or form in the universe that we become aware of, or great mother brings awareness to The subtle, cosmic breath is like a stream, or like the current of sound flowing, yet everywhere. The outer breath stops at times, sometimes for extended periods. You can even hold the breath for a compression for like an hour, as part of bringing this continuum (alchemy), and when you exhale, there is no need to take breath, i.e., the body feels nourished from the cosmic breath. The location of the tantien can be replicated anywhere, or the whole body, or a mandala, or in another realm, like a womb.

This would explain why I had so much success when my mind was clear instead of visualizing the dantien just simply set intention on it then empty the mind and allow it to sink as you said I did the with the heart chakra before and I met mother earth then fell from the heart chakra to the lower ones and I saw the whole universe was inside of me. Even releasing qi It would be hit or miss now I realize all I have to do is place the mind on something then kind let go go blank empty the mind I see now that the thoughts the monkey mind gets in the way.

good morning MASTER DM ! since you have actually located the dan tian credibly kudos ! SO i sat in a chair for 40 years getting multiple degrees in a cerebral learned profession most of the time in fight-flight-freeze then becoming expert at binge eating and obesity and managed to tear my abdominal fascia by bending over and then seriously strain my SI joint by a fat man doing hot yoga and then cultivated a GI issue which Docs claimed required pharma and frequent tests so GENERALLY I FELT DEAD FROM THE HEAD DOWN AND MY MIND WAS MOSTLY HOT AS HELL FIRE --ESPECIALLY MY FAT MIDDLE WAS DEAD --.. Well fast forward a generation ( 30 years ) I learned how to warrior fast drop some adipose tissue and eat insoluble fiber and living food and seeds and cultivate the gut biome and live life better- sorry for the long winded intro My practice is improving and what a tremendous breakthrough when you LOCATED MY DAN TIAN and cast aside 30 years of HOKUM nonsense of "just bring the chi in from the cosmos with a happy ending from guan yin " NOW I AM STUDYING THIS LECTURE WITH GRANULARITY and I shall attempt to LOCATE DAN TIAN PROPERLY AS YOU HAVE TAUGHT - BUILD THE CONTAINER- ALLOW THE MIND-YI TO SINK- I believe if I can " just " do those things it will be HUGE...I have not OBSERVED THE PHENOMENA and I believe my practice will be worthwhile "just " LOCATING DAN TIAN- BUILDING THE CONTAINER -FILLING THE CONTAINER- ALLOWING THE YI TO SINK-GUARDING THE YI IN DAN TIAN- SUBMERGING YANG IN YIN- " just " this practice makes me want to "jump and shout " maybe I will feel the phenomena in the future ...then I shall seek to cultivate greater martial power and spiritual practices HOWEVER being a proper student is it's own reward- I make this statement because I am so happy- BUT I am so happy because my body is spilling over with energy therefore there is a peaceful-joyous unity of body-mind-spirit- I thank you for your generous positive re-inforcement on my comments. I thank you for being a scholar-sage-warrior who is bringing true practices intentionally hidden and obfuscated by alchemical allegory, desire to only pass to chinese lineage and then further contorted by poor mandarin to english by design and accident-; and, compounded by fraud , greed, ignorance and the basic human condition. "Masters" are as numerous as hairs on the ox. But TRUE MASTERS are as rare as horns on a unicorn. Stay healthy in your body, mind, and spirit MASTER DM. Thank you.

Hey Damo! I have a question: In Mo Pai Nei Gong, the first stage of development already assumes, that the Dan Tian is present. In other words, the bucket does not have to be build first, and Qi can be accumulated right away. If I understood you correctly, you said, that before Qi can be accumulated, the bucket needs to be build first. How can these opposing approaches be reconciled with each other?
