Adam Mizner & Damo Mitchell chatting about various aspects of Yang Taijiquan...
Please note, the photo of the two of them in a helicopter has nothing to do with what they talk about in this episode!

Really enjoyed this one. Particularly the idea that those on the path of cultivation have not wasted time on anything they’ve done in the past, even if it was superseded eventually. I too have started again many times in over 40 years of martial arts and I love every second of a new path. Would love to train with you both at some stage. 🙇🏻🙏🏽

Hi, I enjoyed this discussion and it prompted me to watch more of your videos. Would you mind explaining 'the cavities' or linking me to other episodes where you discuss that topic? "Chi adhering to the spine" is also of interest. It would be great if you could discuss that also. For example, the questions which occurred to me from this video were the following: How to generate 'chi', since it seems the most important first step. The reason I ask is because I was taught, as no doubt others may have been too, different methods of doing this. For instance, my first encounter was through aikido, where the idea was to use the mind, combined with long yogic breathing, to bring or attract chi into the tantien. In three months, this produced a hefty dose of strong energy. My friend who did this with me, half an hour a day, used to go home after work and chop beer crates with his bare hands because it was quicker than using an axe. You might say, we developed axe-like hands and arms. I abandoned this method because, although I became strong, I felt we were clashing too much. We would inadvertently hurt each other in training, without meaning to because the energy was too strong. The second method I learned was to imagine holding a beach ball out in front of me and imagine pumping air into it, feeling the pressure. The ball can then be moved up, down, even inside the body, as necessary.

🌸How did you all get up in that helicopter? That looks like you're having a great time! I love these chats, such insight & really helpful "not that" & "yes, that" pointers. All the shovel stuff reminded me of the movie "Keeping Mum" ✨Honeysuckle vibes from Virginia

Great talk. Wondering if the eventual abundance of qi in the spine resides in the bone marrow, spinal fluid and brain? As in the xi sui jing principles. Meaning it can be cultivated using different methods (albeit the same thing) then utilised in tai ji quan? The dragon body is kundalini? Same energetic experience? I liked the explanation of lineage too, many of the daoist lineages have lots of great books and info but not many publicly skilled practitioners that ive found, so it just comes across as esoteric theory. Not something that can be attained. I truly hope you two create a podcast together or a course or something. Im very grateful for both your online schools. Thanks

I'm also very interested in the bit about German & Swedish influence on Chinese martial arts. I'd never heard that before. I'm not trying to be contentious I'm just curious.
