I met Lou at the 1972 World Power lifting Championships in Harrisburg, PA. I was 13 years old. I still have his autograph. He signed it, "Louis". Lou used to come to the World Power lifting Championships & AAU Mr. World every year back then to watch. In 1973 when I saw him again, He was wearing a blue flannel shirt with an IFBB insignia on it. So, I knew he'd left the WBBG for the IFBB, but I didn't know he had won the IFBB Amateur Mr. Universe because the magazines covering the contest hadn't come out yet. Good to see you Louis. God bless.

This was great to see guys. Lou is a legend and I think its terrible the shit he gets from how he marketed himself 30 years ago. Pumping Iron is my Bible. I was 7 years old when it was released in theaters. I thank you guys greatly for this interview. There are still many of the old school guys alive from that era and I really wish that more of them would be willing to do podcasts. These men are our history and I don't see the love for them from our current crop of young guys. I think they deserve more credit for what they accomplished in the sport and I really wish there was more interest in the history of our sport. The only guy that the kids care to know about today is Cbum and I think it's a shame. We have to know where we came from before we can move forward. Much respect and appreciation for the 3 of you, also Legends.

Guys, I loved this so much and Lou’s path it’s been a so great tale.Just let me say Milo’s passion and heart in bb still is so hard to match sometime, that even Lou didn’t catch at once the true emotion for Misko to be there on the stage close to him, with a side chest (referring to a sort of “ages and generations togheter “ goes beyond to be 1st or 2nd, and and over the the magic moment between the youngs and the olds in that moment. It emotionally really hit me the way it was felt and showed by an icon to me like Milos. Thank you and all the best to you 4ever.

Great interview with one of the pioneers of the sport. Some interesting trivias here. Both past and current. One takeaway that I just noticed, that Lou trained across three eras/ decades. From the '70s, a good portion of the '80s, and up to the mid-90s. He's one of the few that trained and competed from the Golden era up to the early Mass Monster era. You can say that about King Robbie as well.
