About 20 years ago there was a song called "All Tomorrow's Parties" playing on the Muzak radio system we had tor the restaurant I was bartending at. Both my coworker and I didn't know who the artist was but guessed it was a Goth band from about 1990. We were both shocked to learn it was The VU and that we were off on the timeline by 23 years. Talk about "ahead of their time"!

Lou used the word “protector“ to describe Andy shielding the band from outside influence.

Lou was angry Valerie Solanas was only sentenced to 3 years. He said in an interview with John Wilcock "Andy's gone through the most incredible suffering, they let her off with 3 years. You get more for stealing a car".

I bet you if Lou saw Valerie on the street one of them would face off with each other and only one of them would walk out of that confrontation alive

“I believe life's serious enough for retribution I believe being sick is no excuse and - I believe I would've pulled the switch on her myself…”

The usual gender disparity in sentencing. Had she been a man it would’ve been twice that. And Reed was right about the suffering, the gunshot wounds caused Warhol immense pain for the remainder of his life. He had to wear a corset to prevent his intestines from poking out through the damage to his abdominal muscles, and the surgery he required years later due to liver damage from one of her bullets led to his death.

Big fan of Lou, but Warhol was a horrible and disgusting person. Not saying he deserved the bullet, but there were reasons.

What was so horrible and disgusting about him? He used people, so what? All the people on top in whatever field they do tend to use others.

Nah, everybody wanted a piece of Andy at that time and still do all these years after his death. That's showbiz, baby. You can't place blame solely on one individual when the entire scene was drug addled. Solanas was vengeful and fearful that she was being left out, and for good reason because anyone who shoots two people is mentally unwell.

@@FormerlyNYVulgarian He was making millions from his art, yet he didn't pay his actors, and paid people very little for helping him make his art. Took all the credit for others ideas. He encouraged peoples self destructive behavior, yet was never bothered when they died from drugs or suicide. Never went to their funerals or gave public condolences. He latched on to people who had beauty, talent, or connections, but would kick them out of his life when he got bored with him. He was kind of a blood sucking sociopath. A loathesome human being, but definitely a gifted artist. And many of his ideas and quotes have become prophetic.
