No Rythm guitar player like Lou Red. He got the groove and the Tone

Lou Reed could be far more better with his band if he didn't play guitar himself : listen to that solo ridiculous !!! It's pathetic to hear him play ; it detracts his songs.

The whole Blue Mask album is an absolute classic. Many if not all of the tracks were recorded live without overdubs. The themes he explores are very Lou-ish but there's something very special about it that sets it apart.

that cello is sensational and clearly stoked Lou into heights not usual for 2005

For me, this version is a master piece. Feel bad for the millions, tens of millions, not experiencing this song, the intro, the beginning after the intro, the middle, the end, the everything You only know what you know.

Fernando Saunders on bass nails this performance. “A run away car cannot be controlled…”

Gonna put this here: Jimi Hendrix would have gone so much further if he had had such a great band.

@@Jef-sj6zc Does it matter? You're talking about one of rock music's greatest most influential performers. There can be NO argument about that! Keith Richard's ain't much of a guitar player either. He did OK!!!! Both very raw and spontaneous.

@@josephine-j1p I'm sorry but I used to be a big Lou Reed fan ( and also of the Velvet Underground ) in the seventees . He wrote beautiful songs and made brilliant records ( Berlin , R&R Animal , Lou Reed Live , Transformer even Sally can't dance ). He kept making great songs but when he played guitar with it he ruined those songs. You don't have to be a great guitar player to make a good song but Lou played like a three year old who had for the first time an electric guitar . And that DOES matter , it could have been so much better . Don't you hear the difference between his records in the seventees and the period after that ? You can hear he played his songs in an other style , well if that's your thing it's not my style. Again , Lou was a narcist who couldn't have that there were credits for his musicians and his producers. He was pissed that everybody talked about the brilliant intro on R&R Animal played by Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter : he should have been proud of it ; it's nowadays a legendary peace of music on HIS record. Read about him and search some stuff on the internet , it may be change your opinion about some things but if it's your taste , so it will be. By the way , never compare Keith Richard against with Lou Reed as a guitarist : Keith was limited on his guitar but he knew what he did and was a genius in inventing world famous guitar riffs ; his musicality reached far far far more than Lou Reed's. In the end it's a matter of taste so it has no sense to discuss about that . I only sum upp the facts here.

@@Jef-sj6zc Bought my first record in 1965. I've seen it all. In terms of influencing musicians Lou is ahead of Keith......however.......the Rolling Stones are my favorite band.......Lou could NOT play like Sterling Morrison! Steve Hunter is still playing with Alice Cooper.......I think!
